Does anyone have a list of Orlando area resorts that are gated?
IOW, which resorts require drivers to either speak to a 24-hour security guard or use a current issue key-card or wristband, in order to the enter the resort? There are no unsecured back entry driveways either.
I know these resorts are gated:

All Disney/DVC resorts
Club Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort

Where else, please?

Hosting a high-level meeting?
These HGVC resorts: Parc Soleil, SeaWorld & Tuscany Village.
Well... Tuscany Village has a back-door gate to an outlet mall.

Thank you. It's a shame that the HGVC resorts have added resort fees. But good to know those are gated.

From google maps, it looks like maybe The Fountains (off Int'l Dr.) and Orange Lake may be security gated as well. Not sure. Anyone with recent experience? Or other resorts?

Worldmark/Wyndham Reunion is in a gated community.

Sheraton Vistana Resort is gated as well, and as far as I know there isn't a back entrance.

Aside from that, I'm curious what the upside is of that? I don't like gates at all - they make me uncomfortable, aside from the extra time it takes to get in (maybe its just me that always gets stuck behind 3 people who all can't find their card even though they've been sitting waiting at the gate).

Silver Lake, just outside WDW south of Animal Kingdom, is gated.

Gated resorts will have less internal road/driveway traffic, fewer non-guest pool hoppers, and a slightly safer "feel" than open driveway properties. Security gates and sheds nearly always have security cameras. Their existence discourages some kinds of criminal activity by people who don't want to be seen/remembered or their vehicle easily identified on camera.

We live in a generally safe, low crime area. But our neighbors once had their catalytic converter stolen from their car, parked in their driveway. Another neighbor had their car broken into, window smashed. Tourist areas attract thieves and predatory people. When I'm traveling with my DH or another family, I'm still always aware of our surroundings. But when I've traveled with other women or as the solo adult with children, I prefer to stay inside a gated resort. Just a personal preference. YMMV.
