Check Costco in your area. They tend to have the cheapest gas prices around. Pay for it with your Costco Citi Visa, and you'll get cash back at the end of the year - lowering the price even more.

Gas in our area , including local Costco, has increased .50 in past two weeks. It will only get worse with Memorial Day approaching. I don't understand why they don't at least eliminate the summer blends that would cut cost by .20 per gallon. These blends have been proven to have no impact on air quality and may actually release more harmful chemicals than the regular blends. The bright side is we will all be getting higher cash back payments.

If I lived there I could probably deal with it.

It's not really bad for me. I usually fill up when I am between a quarter and a half tank. I still only have to fill up once every 3 weeks. I have been happy with our Jeep Compass. It's been getting between 28 and 30 mpg.

It's probably harder on the working people here though. Having to drive to work everyday. It's not a big island but the miles can add up daily.

$4.29 in Ohio

an apt called Gas buddy can find you the cheapest gas around you. Also can give warnings when it’s going up.

I’m just glad to be able to fill up and go where I want.

I remember the lines in the 70’s
$5 limit even or odd days depending on your license plate

If you live not too far from a Native American Indian reservation that sells gas you can probably save on gas. The ones near me are usually 15 to 20 cents a gallon cheaper.

My sources for cheap gas:
Sam's Club and Murphy's (associated with Walmart).
Also, a Circle K convenience store near Walmart.

-------------------
Speaking of Walmart? It's the old joke:
I couldn't find what I wanted at Walmar, so I came home,
took a shower and changed out of my PJs, to go to Target.

You lose.
Gas Buddy has some serious privacy issues as detailed by Car and Driver.
Google Maps also has gas price information, which can be alternative (but they track some info on you as well). Just checked, and regular gas is about $3.95 around here today.

I saw it was $4.50 today at the station closest to me in Florida. Last weekend, it was $4.19.

When we drive to Arizona, from Southern Ca., we always gas up AFTER we cross into Az. On a recent trip, the Ca. gas (Exxon) cost $6.19 and when we gassed up in Yuma the cost was $4.19 (also Exxon).

I think that in Ca. we pay about $ 1.19 a gallon in various taxes and fees. But that doesn't fully explain why gas is almost $2 a gallon more in Ca. than Az. and doesn't explain how Az. roads are in a little better shape than the Ca. roads. So, in Ca. here is the breakdown of the Ca. taxes and fees "per gallon":

1. $ 0.184 Federal gas excise
2. $ 0.511 State gas tax
3. $0.10-11 sales tax
4. $ 0.02 Underground storage tank fee
5. About $ 0.15 Cap and Trade (carbon tax)
6. $ 0.22 Low carbon fuel fee (special gas blend)
