FYI...use your Starwood Card at Club Regina Los Cabos

On check-in at Club Regina Los Cabos, we debated about using our Starwood AM EX for incidentals and charging to the room. We were unsure if the charges would be listed on our account as "Westin" (since it's a Raintree property) therefore earning the additional bonus SPG points on the card. We chose to give them a different card with a better foreign transaction fee.

I just received our statement for that card and it is listed as "Westin Hotels Los Cabos."

I wish I had known prior to our visit so I thought I would pass the info along.

Check out weekly on long stays, though...

To ensure you get your points, make sure you fully check out perhaps as often as weekly, if you are staying in a Starwood property for an extended period. I do not recall if it's the Starwood Amex partnered card or the direct Starwood points you get no matter how you pay at a Starwood property, but there is an undocumented hitch. If you are there for longer than xx days without checking out, they don't consider it a hotel 'stay' and you lose the points. It's possible that if you then ask (beg) them for them they will allow them. Starwood does that; if your points expire because of lack of usage, they won't volunteer, but if you ASK for them to be reinstated, they will. (This was a while ago, when it happened to me.)
