full time timesharing....at disney?

I know they can get residency in the state of Florida, but where is their local/municipality/school district residency? They can’t get it at Disney World.

Orange County, Municipality of Bay Lake, FL Virtual, any number of private and charter school options should provide workable options for schooling. They would have to declare residency I believe though with their stay patterns they likely have anyway. That's not to say that every one of these options will work for that situation but some will. And there's no requirement they "attend" in the country they "live" other than possibly some public schools. I know they'll need a "permanent" address and that cannot be WDW but that isn't a difficult work around. My ultimate point is they've been doing this long enough that I'm sure they're worked out the details which are not overly difficult to do. And it may be they've kept their Georgia residency though legally FL could push back on that plus they'd then be responsible for GA taxes, FL doesn't have any state income tax for individuals. Bottom line is schooling should not be an issue, not the way I'd want to live though.

Golden Oak, I remember the early days when houses started at $500K, and now they are outrageously priced. A friend and I talked about how nice it would be to live in that community. Those days are long gone.

We toured when it first opened. I remember lot with home started closer to $1M. You could buy lots for probably $500K but that did not include price of home.

We were going to go with one of their approved builders. Some owners used their own builders and architects but that would have taken longer as Disney would have to approve both builder and plans. We were readybto contract but the rental clause killed that idea. There was no way I was going to live there full time. And it did not make financial sense to let your asset sit like that without some return. Especially for a vacation home.

I think I could get stay in a DVC unit at Old Key West most weeks of the year for under $5k per month via II exchanges if I wanted to do that. I'd definitely prefer that to an RV...

I saw in one of the Facebook groups where someone used a week that had a $500 maintenance fee. Adding in the exchange fee, upgrade fee and $190 to Disney, they were under $1000. I think those cases are rarish, but not unheard of.

Sheraton desert oasis fees for half a 2 bedroom lockout were $767 for 2026. Add a $249 II fee and $190 disney fee and you're at about $1200, or $4800 for 4 weeks.

I suppose technically there are like 4.3 weeks per month? So maybe that works out to like $5300/month or something.

Disney weeks have been pretty tough to get on interval lately. Too many people clamoring for too few weeks. There are too many facebook groups, CIG point gurus, discussion forums putting out the drops as soon as they hit. I think alot of DVC owners realize they aren't getting as much value depositing in II. Renting is a better option for many of them. Plus DVC may not be putting much inventory in II, really hard to say without knowing the facts. Maybe an ongoing search works better now than trying to chase those drops? I don't know-- but getting DVC in II isn't a given.

I've exchanged into DVC for early next year for 3 weeks in a 2 BR. The first week at AKV and the other 2 at SSR. I figure all in I'm just under $4K. But that's not doable consistently during the year. There are maybe about 4 to 5 months altogether where one can reliably get exchanges into DVC and maybe 3 months where stringing together multiple weeks is likely. Things may change over time as well.

I was happy with all 3 weeks. Our preferred resorts are actually those 2 though we like all of them. I had originally exchanged into OKW in a 1 BR but retraded it to the 2 BR at SSR where we were going to be the next week anyway.

I owned one.
You could get 10 weeks a year if you’re diligent at booking them.
They used to be great traders.
Until they were downgraded by II.
Maybe with the new system they will be great traders again.

I can assure you they are not that great outside of 30 days. Even the red weeks.

That was my experience my last year which is why I got rid of it. Plus BG locked me out of my account for renting and I wasn’t even renting.
I think they want these UDIs back for the trust. They can have it. It was a great run for the time I needed it.
I can’t vacation 10 weeks a year anymore. But when I could it was a great time.
