I shouldn't be surprised, but I booked a flight reservation for today last Friday, but waited until Monday to ticket it to be sure that the trip wouldn't get cancelled. In the meantime, US Air added an extra $40 fuel surcharge. Nearly $900 for a one hour flight and they wanted to charge me $2 for a soda.

Plus I didn't want to check my bag and pay $15, so I had to dig out a small bag. The zipper was wrecked on my favorite carryon size bag (right after I paid a luggage repair shop to replace the broken leg). I need to find a good maximum size carryon bag. I've been looking online, but I really like to touch and feel a bag before I decide.

Flying is no fun at all any more.

I used to suggest that folks buy TS's where they like to vacation.
Perhaps that should be amended to where they can walk to.

Some European airlines, primarily LCC's like RyanAir and Sky Europe, are taking a firm position that fuel is part of the overall product and should not be charged for seperately as a ''surcharge''. Hooray for them!
