Frustrated with constantly changing answers

We made our first deposit with RCI a couple months ago and booked the Westin Regina in Puerto Vallarta for next June. As I was reading the FAQ on this website, I noticed that we should have gotten a 1 plus 1 week deposited into our account, since Mexico(International destination) qualified for this. From reading the FAQ on this, my understanding is that you can take advantage of another week in ANY of the qualifiying areas within 2 years for either $240+(US) or $296+(International). I have called RCI on this 3 times and have received 3 different answers. I am pretty frustrated and a little irritated about this.....

Call 1: I was told that the One plus One weeks were no longer available.

Call 2: I was told I had to book into the same resort as my exchanged week, so I either had to book another unit at the Westin for the same week, or I had to book a week following our reservation.

Call 3. After discussing this at length with the person who answered, I think he finally confirmed that we can book a different resort at another time. But he said the one plus one weeks were the same as bonus weeks, and we could have as many as we want. He said the Westin Regina in PV, which we are booked into for June, could not be booked as a one plus one week. We didn't want to do that anyway, but that was the complete opposite of what the second person told me, since that person said we HAD to book into that resort.

WHY does it seem to be that the people answering the phones don't seem to know the programs???? Isn't that what their job is supposed to be? How are we supposed to know what is correct when we get a different response every time we call? It's really frustrating when we can't get the correct/consistent answers from the very place we are supposed to call for the answers!!
Can you please tell me what the real deal is with the one plus one weeks, so we actually have the correct information?
Thanks!

Kathy I just received a response from feedback@rci.com about this very issue. I'm waiting for some additional clarification as they didn't answer all of my questions, but will post it here when I get an answer. I got the same run around, tap dance you did from the VG.

Answers Finally!!

Ok here is what I received back from feedback@rci. I copied the response directly from the email they sent me. My original email asked how One-Plus-One weeks were earned, where they could be used and how much they cost. I had also mentioned that some members who had confirmed an international exchange hadn't received a One-Plus-One week. Start reading from the bottom up.

Hello,

I verified the costs of a One-plus-One and the $241.99 and $296.99 fees
are correct. The deposits are currently only computer-generated when
someone confirms online one of the targeted areas. This deposit was
put
into your account the same day you confirmed Morritt's Tortuga Club
online on July 2.

If the individuals you mentioned confirmed Mexico with a Guide, rather
than online, the One-plus-one deposit is not automatically placed in
the
account. Because this promotion has been somewhat overshadowed by
Extra
Vacations and Last Call, it's likely many Guides have forgotten about
the program. Please suggest to these individuals that they call RCI
and
request their One-Plus-One deposit.

We are completely revamping our web site in 2006. It's very possible
that additional types of deposits may be accessible online at that
time.

We wish you and yours a safe and happy holiday season.

Kind Regards,

Thank you for your response Teresa. Could you please
verify whether or not the prices quoted on TUG are
correct for a One-Plus-One week? $241.99 domestic and
$296.99 international for the week. Also, could you
please verify how One-Plus-One weeks are earned? My
understanding is that you earn them for confirming
into a target area or any international confirmation.
If this is correct there are some individuals who
recently confirmed into Mexico and did not receive a
One-Plus-One week. Any plans to make these searchable
online? Thanks for your help.

Terri

Thanks for posting what you found out quiltergal. I appreciate it. I wonder if we just have to call and ask about locations to see if they are available?? It would be nice the available places WERE listed on the website.

Hopefully, in the future, we will be able to search with One-Plus-One weeks on line. I have had them for years and have never been able to get a decent exchange for them.

boaterkathy,

I am sorry to hear that there is still so much misinformation out there about this program. If you have any trouble, please do send an e-mail.

This program was also discussed here with some updates.
