I'm enquiring for a friend. They have made a request through CI for an RCI resort 'Bougainvilla' in Barbados. CI has e-mailed them that this resort has been "frozen". Does anyone know what this could mean?

Chrisky, No idea what a "Frozen" resort is. But I changed the title of your question which hopefully may get you an answer.

FYI Club Intrawest ownwer don't make reservations with RCI (weeks or points) but thru an indirect deal with CI & RCI. ( kind of like HGVC).

Just a guess.....

We were there about 3 years ago. We went to the members update. At the time they had started to convert to Points. Apparently it wasn't going too well. Only a very few weeks had been converted. I have never seen any inventory on the points side of the system. Maybe they are dropping out of the Points program and going back only to weeks??? As I said, just a guess.

ahh! Smart owners to shoot this turkey. Dumb management to try to foist it on them.

Frozen Resort

I had a resort where I owned that was frozen with RCI. FHC a Motorhome vacation club had a location around Orlando that closed down. The club manager was unable to find a new location in the area to move the motorhomes.

This was not comunicated with RCI and exchangers showed up at the location listed by RCI and found nothing and the phone number was no longer in service.

RCI froze the exchanges and would not let FHC deposit any weeks including the other two FHC locations. The week I had tried to bank was kicked back to FHC.

FHC eventually dropped out of RCI. IMHO RCI was acted in the best interest of RCI member in freezing this resort.

If a resort has been frozen with RCI it most likely has serious management issues or its relationship with RCI is in peril.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Finally narrowed it down to the fact that Intrawest had made an error in the request. There is nothing wrong with Bougainvilla. It's Divi Southwinds that is frozen for now because of construction.
