I have a friend (fellow Mainer) who knows I like to look up travel possibilities as a hobby.

But, he's given me a tough one.

He thinks he wants to go to Myrtle Beach (first choice) for a week beginning mid-April.

I see only a few options that are timeshares (II)---and the $700+ price tag will be too steep, I believe.
(I do NOT believe I can convince him that Williamsburg is about the only driveable option with significant availability/reasonably priced.)

It would be his wife, him, and a teenage daughter and son.

I won't spend alot of time on this one (I'm planning my own Florida vacation at the end of this month)---but thought I'd throw it out there in case you know of some possibilities.

Any ideas?

Pat

rci show more resorts for sure. in a quick check i see 30 resorts for april '12 and some 293 available units for myrtle beach.

since you are II, exchange is not a option for you are looking for rentals?

2 bed unit rental are $739.00 range.. you might look on VRBO.com and see what is going on there..

good luck and have fun if you make it down.

Is your friend in Bangor, too? That's a *long* haul to try to do via car....will they take two days?

I would try renting something, and second VRBO. Depending on the week (i.e. not Easter) you may get some good deals. Also, Myrtle has an excellent visitor's bureau website at www.visitmyrtlebeach.com that has links to some good rental places as well. Maybe check out Wyndham's or RCI's extra vacations?

There was a thread earlier today from someone who was selling Extra Vacation certificates for $400 and I think there was good Myrtle inventory available...
