We'll be staying at Frenchman's Cove in September, and my niece who was recently engaged would like to get some nice photos taken. Can anyone recommend a photographer, or do they have someone through the Marriott? And a question about cars - we don't want to rent one for the whole stay but can we rent one at the resort for a day or two? Without a car, what is the taxi cost to a grocery store? And finally my 89-year-old mom will be with us - we would like to do one an excursion to St. Johns or Magen's Bay just for the beach experience and understand we can book something like this right at the resort. Anybody have a recommendation? Thanks for any help!

We're at Frenchman's Cove now, I will ask about a photographer. I recommend not renting a car and getting a taxi driver. Send me a private message and I can recommend the driver we used three years ago and is driving us around now. He is terrific. Driving is on the opposite side of the road ffrom the US and it's a mountainous terrain. Relax and let someone else drive! Don't miss St. John's and its beaches. It's lovely.

As far as your 89-year-old mom, this Marriott resort is difficult to navigate if you have mobility problems. If your Mom does, please make sure the resort knows this and is able to accommodate her needs. The closest building to the pool and beach is the Tortola building.

Finally, bring as many groceries with you as you can. We learned the hard way and didn't do this when we were here three years ago. A fellow Marriott owner recommended it. It is even worth paying for a baggage fee. For example, a package of bacon is almost $11.00. Fruits and vegetables are not great and just as pricey. Just freeze your proteins, place them in a cooler bag and then place the cooler bag in a suitcase. Everything will be frozen and rock hard when you arrive.

I am happy to help with any questions you may have.

The concierge there can answer most of your questions factually and without speculation.
The concierge typically knows all those who offer such services, and gets regular feedback on all of them,
so they know who to go to, and who NOT to go to.
"Word of mouth" recommendations can be very inconsistent, so I would personally trust the concierge
as a source much more wholeheartedly.

I would also ask the concierge at the Frenchman's Reef Hotel (Frenchman's Reef & Morning Star Beach Resort).

The Frenchman's Reef Hotel is still closed from damage caused by the hurricane. It's supposed to re-open in June 2022.

Yes, I wondered about that.........Not a set-back, however.

In that case, the OP could call the St. Thomas Ritz's concierge (or another good resort) ---they all have the same information that will be helpful.

Could also Google "St Thomas" or "Virgin Island Photographers" and evaluate those found,
and see if there's anyone that looks appropriate for the needs.
