Does a ferry still take you from frenchmans cove dock to st. Johns tour. Also what tours or tour companies can you do to go to British Virgin islands for the day

About the ferry, I don't think so...but honestly have no idea since we didn't try. We did take the public ferry from Charlotte Amalie to Cruz Bay.

And I know that there are a number of tour companies that do excursions out of Frenchman's Cove and Frenchman's Reef. That said, I usually recommend Stormy Pirates which has a number of different trips to BVI out of Red Hook.

The VI Cat is the tour operator that goes out of the dock at Frenchman's Cove. They could be ok if you want someone holding your hand snorkeling. We like the snorkeling trips by Cruz Bay Watersports, who operate The Flying Frenchman out of the Frenchman's Reef dock as well as other boats from the Ritz and Westin St John if we're looking for one directly from where we are staying. There are a bunch of other ones out there as mentioned by @ljmiii, though you'll need a rental car or taxi for those.

There is a ferry that runs to Charlotte Amalie, too - not St John.
