When we visited Frenchman's Cove for the first time last November, we became aware of the "Founding Members Club" which consists of the first 200 (or so) members that purchased at the resort. We were surprised that we were not included in that group, despite the fact that we purchased in June 2005. Does anyone know the exact dates that qualify for inclusion in that club? I'm interested because I've heard that extra attention is given to room requests for "Founding Members." The documents I have indicate that we purchased on June 14, 2005 and closed on November 17, 2005. Any information / thoughts will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ron

Based on the discussions on this forum back then, I'm guessing the first 200 timeshares were sold by Florida's telesales group on the first day or two that sales opened. There was a lot of hype and Marriott sent thousands of promotional e-mails to existing Marriott owners and other prospects prior to the opening of sales.

I'm a "founding" owner at Marriott's Custom House. What it gets me is my name on a plaque just outside of the lounge on the mezzanine level. That's all. I don't think founding members get any special privileges at any Marriott resort when it comes to making reservations.

The "extra attention" would probably be limited to, "Oh, I see you are a founding owner" when you call to make your reservation at the same time all other owners can call. Even that statement would surprise me!

Thanks for your response, Dave. My wife and I were one of those who bought through the telemarketing push, prior the opening of sales. We responded to an e-mail sent to us as owners at Grande Vista. I guess June 2005 wasn't early enough, though.

We are founding members. We purchased the second day they opened for sales. We have our names on a plaque. :)rolleyes: LOL.) The other "lifetime" perks: we also have a founding members card that gives us 20% discount at the FC Marketplace, 10% discount at the Reef Health Club and Spa and a signed painting of Paquereaux Bay by Rae Kehoe.

I forgot about the 20% discount at the Marketplace, didn't use the spa and really like the painting. I have it on my desk and is the same view we enjoyed from our villa.

We had great units when we were there last year. I just called ahead and asked for the units to be next to eachother and with a nice ocean view. I would expect as an owner at FC you would be entitled to the same unit we had. I don't think you are missing out on much!
