Recent eBay listings have them going for less, with many not selling at all. The hassle to the OP and possibly of not being able to sell it makes a deedback logical. The annual dues of these points make them not a great deal. Why give it away? Points sell for $2-4 on the open market.
I suspect most of those EBay listings are getting swept up with ROFR. Or the seller isn’t ’being truthful when submitting for ROFR.Recent eBay listings have them going for less, with many not selling at all. Yeah, I’m sure you’re right, but the fact that those listings exist means it’s probably not so simple, as the seller, to sell abound points for 3-4 dollars per point right now. As the buyer I’m sure it’s trivially easy to buy at that price point.I suspect most of those EBay listings are getting swept up with ROFR. You may be right. Maybe OP is swimming in cash so that a free $3,000+ isn't worth the hassle of trying to sell.Recent eBay listings have them going for less, with many not selling at all. The point I was making is that I don't think it's a free $3,000. Lots of those auctions aren't selling at all, either closing out with no bidders, or appearing to be relisted after sales fell through. Especially if you're not a broker and are just trying to make a listing on ebay without feedback from previous timeshare sales, you may end up spinning your wheels and ultimately paying more in maintenance fees while losing time versus just surrendering the deed back to Marriott or trying to give it away here. You may be right. You may be right, but there are reports of ROFR being exercised at or below $3, so someone must be buying. Again, if the potential of a few thousands dollars isn't worth their time, they can give away. The point I was making is that I don't think it's a free $3,000. In other words, like many timeshares listed here in this free forum, I don't think it's irrational to try to give it away. The market is oversaturated with abound points. There is way too much supply and not enough demand.
