This is a great family ski-week ownership in one of the most popular times of the year at Massanutten. We have never used the week and would like to transfer it to someone who can enjoy it.

Even if you give it away, the mortgage will still be your responsibility - it will not transfer with the deed.

I should have been more clear. We will still be paying off the loan ourselves, I have just seen multiple people not wanting to take over a timeshare while the loan is still outstanding. I’m not sure why.

When there is a mortgage, it makes the transfer more complicated, and in fact, the resort management may not allow it.

Even if you give it away, the mortgage will still be your responsibility - it will not transfer with the deed.

It actually is possible for someone to apply to take over the loan.. they would apply with the lender and try to get approval to take over the loan however this was not what I was intending to say. With such a small amount outstanding doing this wouldn’t make sense.

Divided by 5- however we’re not looking for someone to take over the remaining loan balance. I only meant that someone could take ownership of it now if they wished (we would obviously maintain responsibility of paying off our loan) or they could wait until the loan balance is fully paid.

I have not looked into if they would allow it or not- cross that bridge if I came to it, but we do see a significant amount of Massanutten owners trying to do this.
