I came all prepared for our 10 day stay. Bike shorts, shoes HRM........the whole thing as we've stayed at WPORV many times over the last few years and relied on the trusty bike being at the ready (if not already occupied). I hoped to use it every day on our extended trip.

Arrived on my first morning to see all new equipment at the gym but alas, the two bikes are gone. It wouldn't be that bad if they had replaced them with just a reg stationary spin bike and you could use the app but they chose to get Lifefitness recumbent and upright bikes which will NOT do the trick.

I asked the front desk and they said they just could not get anyone on the Island to maintain it. I get it, commercial use in a salty, damp environment could be hard on equipment.

Just thought I would give anyone who cares about it the heads up before they pack for the visit.

Oh bummer! We’re in Kaanapali right now and I had no idea this was even possible, so I didn’t bring my shoes. I’m sorry!

If you don’t already use the strength classes, those are awesome. I’m planning to do some runs and sprinkle in strength as I can, starting with some barre in our room today.

I had NOT anticipated bikes here so I didn’t have my shoes, but I found them here in Ka’anapali, and they’re in rough shape! Really rusty. I took just a 20 min class to try it out and it was crunchy with each push.

I hope this means something to somebody because I haven't got a clue? :ponder:

I understand that a piece of equipment in a public exercise facility would get a lot of use, but are you saying that Peloton bikes do not hold up in that environment?

I have a Peloton Bike+ and really like it. However, I wouldn't expect it to hold up in a commercial environment where it gets far more use than in a normal home with just a couple of riders.

We have a Bike+ at home, and the use and issues I saw at the bikes here in Maui seem connected to the humidity, I’m sure in combination with use. It was very, very humid in the exercise room, and it’s only April.

Pretty sure the OP will know what I’m saying.

I just realized that it's the bikes that are rusty not your shoes. That would explain my confusion. :giggle:

I am here now at the Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas and they have (2) Peloton Bikes, with peloton pedals. I was able to log into my account and get right to it.
