For RCI - Is San Jose considered Cabo

I am just looking at the points grid from RCI and wondered if San Jose del Cabo is considered Cabo on this grid.

The chart lists Baja - Cabo (of course that's the highest in Mexico for points) and then there's Baja - Other than Cabo - I would assume that San Jose is included but here's hoping I'm wrong :ponder:

Here's how RCI weeks breaks it down for the Los Cabos Area(units available in parentheses):

Cabo San Lucas [2307]
Los Cabos [1299]
San Jose del Cabo [966]

(I don't really understand the Los Cabos part, as the units are for resorts in San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas and one inbetween the two.)

The breakdown for all of Baja is:

Cabo San Lucas [2307]
La Paz [1]
Los Cabos [1299]
Playas de Rosarito [20]
Puerto Penasco [723]
Rosarito [23]
San Jose del Cabo [966]

Los Cabos refers to the two towns of San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. The area between the two towns, along the main highway, is often referred to the Corridor where several timeshares are located.

Rephrasing the Question

What I want to know is - are the units in San Jose del Cabo the same value (whether to exchange weeks or points) as the units in Cabo San Lucas or are they considered Baja - Other than Cabo?

Does that make more sense - sorry for the confusion.

Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo and resorts on the Corridor make up Los Cabos. They will be the same points, everything other than these two sister cities, and the corridor will be considered as Other than Cabo

As mentioned above "Cabo San Lucas Los Cabos" refers to the resort area that is composed of the town of "San Jose del Cabo", the town of "Los Cabos Cabo San Lucas", and "The Corridor", which is the stretch of coastline that lies between those two towns.

San Jose del Cabo is to Cabo San Lucas Los Cabos as Manhattan is to New York City.

Thanks for the clarification - hopefully that changes someday soon - it's way busier in Cabo than it is in San Jose - which is probably why we fell in love with the place to begin with!

I've got a line on a TS at the exact resort we want so it might all be a mute point anyway - no need to sign up for RCI or II unless you need to trade or buy extra weeks or whatever and we may not need to do that quite yet!

you goofed, what you meant to say was that san jose del cabo and cabo san lucas make up los cabos. Los cabos translates to the 2 capes, which are saint josephs and saint lukes

Many people prefer Cabo San Lucas because it IS busier. I don't see that any changes would be necessary as to how the weeks are valued among all the Los Cabos resorts because there is something for everyone down there.

We prefer Cabo San Jose because it is smaller and you can walk to the town square and restaurants. There is a great Mega and taxi fares are generally $5 or less if you do not want to walk. There is also a bus that is even less expensive. We go into Cabo San Lucas (on the bus) once during our stay just to see if there is anything new for us to see.

The only reason I stated about reducing the value of San Jose is that it isn't nearly as busy as Cabo - when we've been there - November and March the resorts in San Jose have been at 30% capacity maximum. The Playa del Sol property had to close at least one whole winter/spring season because they couldn't justify keeping it open with so few bookings - they transferred people who had booked into Cabo. So, in my thinking, if somewhere isn't as busy - why would you pay as much as somewhere that is busy? That's all I was thinking.
