Brought my 2007 low mileage Toyota 4runner in to the dealer today for tires, plugs, all oil changes, cooling system flush, etc all recommended or required by my warantee and service manual. Had a front brake job a year ago, pads and a rotor resurfacing done by this dealer. Get a call that the right front caliper is "frozen" and replacement is $750 pretax. Once I stopped laughing I said no thanks, I'll have it checked by someone else. At one point in my life I was a mechanic and don't understand how they can try to pull this stuff off, the part new from Toyota is less than $200 with pads, resurfacing the rotor is 20 minutes at best even with repacking the bearings (yea, right) so total labor time might be an hour. Keep in mind, no pull, no noise, no vibration in the car or pedal when braking, are they smoking something?
