What do most folks do about food? Do you go out for dinner each night ? What are the restaurants like there and are there good places to go to by cab ? Our friends who are renting saw something on the website about an all inclusive package for food and drink and were wondering about it.

First of all, yes there is an AI option. Minimum 3 days. Costs $150/day. Worth it if you eat and drink a lot. Does tie you into the resort though - which isn't necessarily a bad thing as the resort is fabulous and you can easily sit in it and enjoy the activities.

In WJL are 4 dining options. Embers on the beach is only open for lunch. Others are Jammers (pub food, although you can order from the main Dragonfly menu), Dragonfly (asian fusion) and Papa Dons (Italian, with Caribbean twist). We had a great meal at Papa Dons last Saturday. And reasonably priced.

In Rodney Bay are a lot of options - cab ride is EC$100 return, as in you'll be dropped off then picked up and brought back at a specified time later on. We really enjoyed Ku De Ta, a thai restaurant on the left just at the beginning of the Reduit Beach road.

For self-catering, there is a small grocery in the resort, but it is pricey. Take a cab into Rodney Bay and go to the main supermarket, or better go over the road to the new supermarket, GL Foodmarket, in the new mall on the left. That one has a huge variety of food, and lots of vegetarian options.

Make sure you go to the Jump Up in Gros Islet on Friday evening. There's a shuttle bus from the resort, or you can take a cab. A locals street party that is though full of tourists. Great street food. Just don't be ostentatious with your wealth and stay on the main street and you'll be fine.

We purchased the AI even though we are not drinkers and got our money's worth in food the first day. We normally don't eat large meals so we were both sick after one day. They let us out of the plan and we still ate on property but shared meals and ate just what we needed. We did not leave the property for meals. The breakfast bar was fabulous. The first day, we are it, had a big lunch on the beach and then a three course meal that night. Don't do as we did!!

We have been to WJ 3 times and never take the AI as we don't drink much and don't like to over-eat as people tend to an AI plan.

I always bring some lunch type items such as Salami, Tuna, Peanut butter etc. and just buy a few items in the store on site for breakfast and snacks
( eggs, butter, yogurt, bread, beer, water, fruits and salad etc.).

We always eat breakfast in Villa on balcony overlooking gorgeous view of beach and sea. Lunch is usually at the beach at Embers or Jammers. We have lite dinner, once or twice during week in villa ( Salads and or Sandwiches) and eat at restaurants either on site at Popa Don's, Dragonfly or Jammers or go out with friends to restaurants in Rodney Bay.

Due to Doctor's orders I exercise for 40 minutes every morning using treadmill and eat sensibly and have lost about thirty pounds this past year and try not to put any pounds back while on vacation.

I recently returned from two weeks back to back at Windjammers and then The Crane in Barbados and actually was able to lose about two pounds which I could never do with an AI plan.:cheer: :hi:

Food at Windjammer

I am very disappointed with the food. It is OK. I am an owner so we go to Rodney Bay to get groceries. However if we want a good dinner we go to the Edge in Gros Islet.
