I'm in process of purchasing a MSE unit (Platinum, 2 bdrm lock-off) and the paperwork notes week#30 and also floating week?? From other posts and descriptions, is it safe to understand this as it is a FLOATING week, but #30 (and the unit #) are for "accounting" purposes only?

Does Marriott sell specific weeks only (I realize that some seasons are very limited while others are virtually the entire year).

Thanks

Your first paragraph is correct, except that it's not just for accounting purposes. That designated week is to prove that you have ownership of a specific piece of real estate, even though your annual reservation will have nothing to do with that specific week and specific unit.

Yes, Marriott sells fixed weeks at some resorts. They are typically called "Platinum Plus" weeks and are for holiday weeks such as July 4th, Christmas or President's Day week. There are a very few resorts (e.g., the new wings at Maui Ocean Club and some of the very old resorts) that have fixed weeks for any week of the year.

Generally, I think you'll find that fixed weeks at Marriott sell for more money than floating weeks at the developer level...which kinda tells you Marriott feels 'fixed' is worth more.

All 3 BR condos at both new towers are fixed time and fixed units only the last time I heard. There are the usual floating units and fixed week/units on different floors for the 2 BR condos. This plan will show you exactly and is a brochure they handed out when we were there and may still be current.

The higher demanded weeks sold quickly but the low season weeks seem to take more time so they started selling floating weeks which was not their original plan when we bought. There is an enormous price range in the fixed week/units as it depends on the week you buy and what floor it is on.
