Flights from Toronto to Acapulco, best/lowest itinery or points redemption?

Just got another great exchange into Grand Mayan in Acapulco through SFX

Now I am searching for air fare, I have a little time, it is for March 10 - 17, from Toronto (yyz) to Acapulco (ACA), a quick search online shows results in the CAD 950 range and 2 stops overs.

To those experience fliers, what is the best way to fly to ACA from YYZ?

Or, should I use points? I have *A points enough for two business class tickets to Mexico, but it does not seem they have a Mexican partner. I also have 105k BA points, not enough for Business class for two (but I can transfer in 15K quickly enough), I am not too familiar with BA or Oneworld program, can I use some BA points for upgrade in one of their partner airlines?............and what is availability like for award seats right now?

Finally, I like to stop over in SFO on the way back for a few days to visit fiance. What is the best way to purchase flights, and what is the best way to use points if I want to add SFO?.....Also need a ticket for fiance from SFO to ACA...

Alternatively, I can get myself one of those Plat. Am Ex and take advantage of their buy 1 get 1 free business class ticket, would it work out cheaper?

I will qualify for E status for Air Canada, but I will only get a system wide upgrade certificate which I can use with Tango Plus fare to Mexico, but Air Canada doesn't fly to Mexico.....

What to do?
