Have you ever painted flexible molding? We had a window with a fan shaped top replaced. The new one was not quite as large as the old one, so some drywall was exposed between the new molding and the existing wallpaper. To cover up the exposed drywall, the carpenters installed a flexible molding around the fan shaped window which actually looks very good. I didn't know such a product existed. But I painted it yesterday with the oil based paint I used on the new wood trim and after 24 hours, it is still tacky. I googled flexible molding and it says it can be painted like wood, even with oil based paint. Any thoughts? It needs a second coat too.
