Looking to go fishing for Dorado in Puerto Vallarta will be there from Feb 18th thru March 3rd. Does anyone know if this is a good time of the year for Dorado also any good tips on a good fishing charter?
Thanks Max
Yes. Excellent time for Dorado not so great for billfish PV is generally good for Dorado year round. Lots of good charter cos. try masterbaiters (not the most clever name) or look for a charter boat called Cabello de Mar.
The best places to find a panga are in Punta Mita or Sayulita. These locations are way closer to the fishing grounds. I like Waldo in Punta Mita and his boat called Tuna Time for an all day trip. I go to the small marina in Punta Mita and get my best deals by showing up with money.
The reason I don't like fishing out of PV or NV is that it is a 2 hour boat ride to the outer bay. Punta Mita is at the tip of the outer bay so your fishing longer rather than cruising.
I have seen 600+# marlin caught out here. They chase dorado and tuna. I have wondered if I used a small dorado instead of mackerel what would happen.
