First timer - Harborside - exchange

I want to be sure I have the best information and this is the place to go... not sure what the person at Harborside reservations is the right advice and I want to be sure.

I own week 39 at Harborside (silver season). I want to make an 09 reservation for another silver season week (10/31/09). I called today - no rooms available. She said not to call back until 12/31/08 because of the preference period fixed week owners have. I was under the impression I should call daily, or more often at least.

Any advice would be a big help.

From 10-12 months out owners are guaranteed their week--if they own a fixed--at 10 months if they haven't called to reserve they open up to other owners in that season which is why they suggested calling at 12/31--ten months out. If you don't get anything at that point then I would call daily. You could still try between then and now as an owner might call and release theirs but the highest likelihood is at that point.
FYI--the easiest season to try to trade is silver so that works in your favor.

I am a Gold fixed/float week owner, who has posted before on my difficulties switching weeks within my season. I have made a total of 30+ phone calls and finally got a reservation for the weekend I wanted exactly at the 8 months window. I did NOT get the check-in day that I wanted however, so even at exactly 8 months out it can be tough. I think that it is a total luck of the draw in calling day-to-day, and wish you luck if you try that strategy. I, myself got frustrated calling that way after the first 10-20 times. :annoyed:
