Yeah...the reviewer seems not to have known what they bought. Very strange, or just uninformed.

The units were another surprise. Unlike Kierland or Mission Hills, they don't have full size large half/small half. The small half is in fact a studio

and I know there are a bunch of you out there that will definitely agree with

Things I miss: a swimup bar
:)

I know that when you buy a Starwood TS they give you a copy of the floorplan - how could they not know they bought a 1 bdm. + studio???

Maybe you could contact them and welcome them over to the BBS. Sounds like an experienced owner who might never have clicked on the BBS side?

I don't know who they are - the reviews are a completely different system and it doesn't show their user name.

I'm guessing they toured at either Kierland or Mission Hills, and assumed the floorplan would be the same. Kind of surprising someone would spend that much money without knowing whether or not they liked the island.

I've read the review and it doesn't sound that bad to me. It just sounds like they are disappointed they bought. And, if you are a 1st time visitor it might be difficult to find a beach without a guide book if you know what I mean. There are a lot of secret beaches in the area but they can be hard to find. Or you find a beach and you have walk a ways to get to it and find parking. So, as a first timer visiting the island I can totally understand how they think there is no beach. I like their honest feedback though. It would warn others to thoroughly research out beaches..

I didn't think it was bad, I just thought it was odd that they didn't know the layout of the unit they bought.

I guess some people are oblivious and can't read floorplans!

BTW Denise, you should post ( here, even though it's not starwood related) your hilarious account of the beach goer and the wedding you observed in Kaui from the hawaii thread...everyone will get a real kick out of it!:hysterical:

We did the NaPali Coast tour today we met a couple from Sacramento our home town. Anyways... we started talking and it was obvious they hated Kauai. I asked where they were staying and they were staying at WPORV. So, I told them about the beaches at Tunnels, the one by the Princeville Hotel (Hideaway), etc... They just wrinkled their nose at me and said that they just didn't like the beaches here.

As we talked more I found out they own at WKORV-N and said that they were disappointed because they called at 8 months to reserve and there was not a room available. I did not asked exactly when they called. They were able to get a room at WPORV. They said that they waited 1 1/2 hours for coffee pot.

Anyways... there are people out there that don't like Kauai unfortunately... But it was weird to talk to someone so down on their Hawaiian vacation. I could tell they weren't happy at all with timesharing.

For me, I'm happy not everyone loves Kauai. There are more seats on planes and rooms available for ME!

Seriously, if we all wanted the same place every year, what a mess that would be. . . viva la difference!

I hear Kauai doesn't like them either (and is very happy to have them stay away...)

Did you tell them that as owners they could, and should have, called at 12 mos.?

I agree - I think ALL OF YOU should boycott Kauai! :D

Tina

Hi Tina, we did the Na Pali Coast tour today also. We took the Na Pali Catamaran out of Hanalei. I highly recommend it. We saw dolphins, turtles and even a few seals. Unlike the folks from Sacramento we LOVE Kauai and WPORV. As you know, when we checked in we were given a parking lot view. I didn't feel I had a right to complain since I only made the exchange a little more than a month ago. On Sunday, I asked the front desk if after all the assignments were made for the week, if there was anything left that was better than what we had if she would call me. Late that afternoon she did call to say they had a unit at the end of Building 7 with a partial ocean view. Needless to say, we were very happy. We have found the service here to be exemplary. Having just spent a week at WKORV-N, the differences in the 2 islands are very fresh in my mind. I really appreciate the differences and could see us owning here also. We love the openness, the plantation style architecture and being on the bluff. We really haven't missed the direct beach access.

Fran.... I'm so glad you got to do the Na Pali Coast. Wasn't it beautiful... Just think the couple we met drove from Princeville to do the tour. Are they crazy or what?

Also, glad you got rid of that parking lot view. I'm glad you got a chance to experience a better view. We loved our room view in building 3 but 7 would have been really nice.

dmharris... I took tons of pictures of the resort when we stayed there last week. I will be posting them when I get home. The internet uploads pretty slow here. I will also write a reveiw as well.

Fran, any chance you could take photos and post them? Thanks!

Did you see the WPORV photos I posted a couple weeks ago?

Yeah, but you like the south shore better than Princeville so your pics don't count.:)

Hey! I wasn't talking to you! :p

And yes, I definitely DO like the south better, but I DID like the resort and would love to use my cheapo SDO week to exchange in there some time! :D

Yes, it was beautiful, but, if it wasn't for TUG introducing me to "Kauai Revealed", we would have been on that tour with you. I'm sure it would have been a lot of fun to be with you and your family, but it was way too long a drive, way too early in the morning. Apparently, there are only 3 boats that do the Na Pali Coast out of Hanalei and they are not vendors of WPORV. So, if you book a tour of Na Pali with a WPORV concierge, you are sent South (way South) to the Port Allen Marina.

Sorry to say we never made it Po'ipu. I can see why you spend a week on each side. One week just isn't enough time to enjoy both sides.

Fran

Yes, Napali out of the North is a must. We left out of Anini Beach and it's beautiful scenery from start to finish. And when you're done, it's only a short drive back to WPORV.
