I guess the lesson here is to go eat when you're ahead??

Wow! $65 pp on weekends plus a 'pour package' $25-$30. Methinks I won't be a 'regular' there.

Is it correct to call it a buffet when you order off a menu and servers bring the food out to you?

buf·fet
noun
noun: buffet; plural noun: buffets
  1. a meal consisting of several dishes from which guests serve themselves.

Kurt, I agree. I think the industry will need to come up a new name for this. Not really "family style"--large dishes that everyone in the party shares--but not really a "buffet," either, since it is not self-served.

Anyone has any suggestions?

2 questions quickly come to mind:

You have 2 hours to order all you wish. How quick will the service be?

Now that we're being served, does that mean servers will expect a tip? I've always left something because someone cleared the used dishes and refilled beverages, but will a larger tip now be expected?

Has anyone eaten at this buffet or any other buffet on the strip? We’ve lived here since late 2015, but haven’t ever eaten at any of them as we can’t imagine they are worth the high cost. We have gone to the buffet at The M, which is about ten miles south on the strip. That used to cost about $36 plus tax, but included wine and beer. Otherwise, we have enjoyed the buffets at Red Rock Resort in Summerlin and Green Valley Ranch in Henderson, both of which are owned by Station Casinos. Neither of them have reopened yet.

I look forward to hearing of buffet experiences you may have had on the Strip.

Best regards.

We used to eat at the Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace somewhat regularly and not considered cheap at all. ;)

We have eaten at the Wynn Buffet - it was part of our package when we stayed there last March. It was the most impressive outlays of food we have ever experienced. We are not usually buffet people but they had carving stations, made to order food, pretty much any item you can imagine. We went for breakfast/brunch and had seafood options, meat, chicken, breakfast items, japanese selections and it goes on and on. Also the desserts were varied and plentiful. We did not go there for dinner.

The disappearance of the traditional buffet is a sad, but understandable, result of Covid. The fun part of a buffet was seeing all the food choices and tasting a little bit of things I normally would not eat. Serving myself was part of the fun. I used to pack my plate with 10-15 items and not eat most of them. Then go back for seconds for the things I liked the most. I would not order from a sit down menu this way. I think the buffet needs a new name. I like the idea of ordering a bunch of different dishes and sharing at the table, like family style. I like being able to see and taste a lot of items. Or I would ask the waitress to pile my plate with small portions of a lot of different things. That would make it more like a traditional buffet. I wonder if the buffets will allow us to walk by and look at the items available?

It is very similar to Bacchanal. We brought our friends to Bacchanal a few months ago, who just came back from vacationing in Dubai and they were raving about the buffet spread in Dubai. They were equally impressed.
