I have no audio with Firefox. Radio, music, stuff in mp3 format. If there's a 'buffering' symbol, it just spins and no sound comes out. Safari works fine, so this is just an inconvenience. I have no idea how long this has been going on because I usually don't listen to anything on the computer. Audible plays fine.

Anyone have a clue? Seems there was an update recently to Firefox that I of course installed, but don't know if audio worked before the update.

No browser does audio inately. They ALL must rely on external "plug-ins" from third parties to handle audio and video files. So your problem is going to be with the installed plugins.

Note that plugins that work within Internet Explorer rely on Microsoft's insecure Active-X protocol, which is not supported by many other browsers. That means there are different versions of many plugins for MSIE and other browsers like Firefox.

Flash and Windows Media Player are two common plugins that you may be having trouble with. Lots of good help found under Firefox Add-ons and Plugins here.

Before loading anything else go to Tools-Addons and see ifyouhave any addons. If so, try disabling them and see if it fixes your problem. If itdoes, then add themback one by one until you find the culprit.

Alterntively, you could check your FF version number and see if youhave the latest (3.01). If not,you could try the upgrade

I have the latest version of Firefox, but apparently I had disabled an add-on for audio at some time. No pain no foul. Just reloaded a new Realaudio media player and it seems to work just fine.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
