We went out to dinner last night for the first time in about 10 days. Hmmm, here I am eating chips and salsa. Hand to mouth, hand to mouth. And now my taco has arrived. I eyed the back of the restaurant where the bathrooms were. Nope, I'll take my chances with my hands as they are now, rather than entering the bathroom. I guess the little bottles of hand sanitizer I bought for the cars need to come inside with me when eating at any restaurant or burger joint. Time to get the knife and fork out to eat a Snickers bar like on Seinfeld. And tonight is card night. Best I can hope for is that I keep my hands away from my face. No pistachios for me, NEXT!

I don't understand the premise/concern. How is "finger food" any different than other food at a restaurant? You should always wash your hand before you eat. Unless you are sharing with people you don't know or someone who's sick, I must be missing something.

I’m taking maybe a few extra precautions but not really anything more than the norm

I’m not 70 or infirm and for not that seems to be the higher risk people

When the kids and those my age start falling off. Then I’ll stay home

I'm home alone, zero concerns. Eating a sandwich right now. Had an apple earlier. Cooked and ate fried chicken. Once I've got the Snickers out of the wrapper, no further concerns, after washing my hands from touching the wrapper.

Card party would give me pause only because I would be too into the cards to have conscious thought of what else is going on. Hands on cards, hands on glass holding my drink, that would give me pause (hold it low!). Not sure how fast how far these germs could run but I would stick with bottled beer. I will open my own, thanks. Don't want anything with ice in it. Can of Coke is fine. Not doing bottle of water where it's uncap, cap, uncap, cap.

Chips n salsa I don't think is a problem, if you start out with clean hands and you aren't sharing with double dippers.

I am glad my vitamin D deficiency was detected, as my knuckles healed up from dry weather washing a month ago and not ripped and raw from the excessive hand washing I am doing now. Eating out is not a regular thing for me and not changing that any time soon (I noticed many years ago that hepatitis outbreaks always traced Patient Zero to a restaurant employee). I am staying home more than I normally would but not stopping things I gotta/wanna do to hide out, either. It's been a long while since I ordered a pizza, but, it's gonna be a while longer.

That's an excellent point about the water bottle. Reminds me going horseback riding with a friend in college. We'd finished our rides, I bought a bottle of pop out of a machine and was about half way done when she asked for a sip. Then she proceeded to wipe her horsey hand across the lip of the glass bottle before taking a sip. Hell, the back wash should have given her cooties as it was! Still friends 45 years later.
