ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Tim Tebow will enter training camp as the Denver Broncos' starting quarterback for 2012.

The team sought to curb the circus that's sure to surround Tebow this offseason by declaring him the incumbent at a season-ending news conference Monday.

John Elway, a Hall of Famer who rejoined the team a year ago as chief of football operations, has pledged to work with Tebow this offseason to polish his passing game.

Tebow took over a 1-4 team in October and guided the Broncos to their first playoff berth since 2005. His 80-yard TD toss on the first play of overtime beat Pittsburgh in the wild-card round before the Broncos lost at New England Saturday.

Tebow is the Broncos' only quarterback under contract for 2012.

After 40+ years of T/S ownership, I am no longer "an owner"
In his first playoff game of this year, he outperformed expectations and they won against all odds against those pesky Steelers.

There has got to be something there with Tebow to build on for the Bronco's future.

I'm a sap for a good Cinderella Story in sports and Tebow certainly fit the bill this year. Things changed for the Broncos when he became QB and it was exciting to watch, even for folks like me who couldn't care less about football and endure the games only because it's a way to pass the baseball off-season. :D I've seen it happen before in other sports that the media zeroes in on a player without him asking for the attention, and I think that's what happened to Tebow. Hopefully he continues developing and during his next years he gets a chance to play without the circus around him.

just wait till next year.. and i was not a tebow fan.. i think when a team wins last min it a fluke. they beat the ? in overtime sudden death and get blown out in next game.. sudden death sucks and should be gone. start them on the 40 no field goals till 15 yrd line. each team get a chance like in college.

I don't know what kind of coach Elway will be for Tebow, but he couldn't be a better role model. His style was a lot like Tebow's. He didn't run as much, but he was uncanny at escaping the rush and completing passes when it looked like he was going down.

As much as I love his story, I for one don't think he will have long term success at the NFL level.

It don't really matter. He may turn out to be a dud as a QB...
But in one season, he attained a pop-star status that transends football.
Even if he never runs another play.

He will not make it in the NFL. Maybe JAX will trade or sign him but thats about it. He would be better in the booth.

For college quarterbacks he has already achieved a lot in the no fun league.

Tebow has a chance to be very good. The question is whether or not he will progress. His success this her was due in great part because the broncos ran "the option" just like they do in college. This has been proven not to work in the NFL. It is easy to defend against.

He must learn to play in a pro offense. I think he will learn but he will not be given much time. In the NFL you must perform NOW.

Gee, we all heard that before, like 100 times before he started his first game this year. It doesn't matter if you are a believer or not, you have to admit that some of those games won were because he had help from above. Maybe his destinity is to be a great coach in college or the NFL. We will see what happens next year. I will be watching and looking forward to where life takes him.

Help from above? You must be talking about the voices coming over the headsets from the coaches in the boxes high above the fields. ;) If not, how do you explain that every game also has a losing team, despite the fact there are players on both sides who believe in higher powers?

I do agree that faith can give a person an inner strength that perhaps will help them constantly strive to perform better (in all walks of life.) But the idea that a benevolent being takes sides in a sporting event? I don't buy it.

Winner

He has won throughout his career and will continue to win. Some people just lift other up and I think he is one of those people. So far I have a lot of respect for him and his direction and hope he can stay positive.

Sorry but you are simply wrong. The only similarity between the two is the physicality. Elway threw first. He could scramble when needed to avoid a sack. He was an extremely accurate passer. Right now, Tebow has plays designed to allow him to run. That is very unusual in the NFL and is not a successful strategy.

NFL rules, more than ever in the history of the game, favor the passing game by protecting the QB and receivers. You must pass well in this league to be a success. The running game was the once the most important element of pro football. It is still important but not nearly as important as the passing game. Furthermore, NO team wants their QB to be the "running back".

I have seen Tebow be accurate on some long balls and that makes me think he can play in the league. I also like his physicality. He must drastically improve his passing skills. . He may never be as good as Elway - very few are.

Yes, but...

I don't follow football and know little or nothing about it. My opinion is that regardless of his future success r lack thereof, the most important thing abour Tebow is his role model influence on the youth of our country.
My grandson, who is his 7th grade QB named his dog Bow.
Tebow is an excellent influence for the good.

More than 24 years ago, Pam and her husband Bob were serving as missionaries to the Philippines and praying for a fifth child.
Pam contracted amoebic dysentery, an infection of the intestine caused by a parasite found in contaminated food or drink. She went into a coma and was treated with strong antibiotics before they discovered she was pregnant.
Doctors urged her to abort the baby for her own safety and told her that the medicines had caused irreversible damage to her baby. She refused the abortion and cited her Christian faith as the reason for her hope that her son would be born without the devastating disabilities physicians predicted. Pam said the doctors didn't think of it as a life, they thought of it as a mass of fetal tissue.
While pregnant, Pam nearly lost their baby four times but refused to consider abortion. She recalled making a pledge to God with her husband: If you will give us a son, we’ll name him Timothy and we’ll make him a preacher.
Pam ultimately spent the last two months of her pregnancy in bed and eventually gave birth to a healthy baby boy August 14, 1987. Pam’s youngest son is indeed a preacher. He preaches in prisons, makes hospital visits, and serves with his father’s ministry in the Philippines. He also plays football. Pam’s son is Tim Tebow.

Thank you for taking the time to enter this story; it is faith-building.

Oh come on! Everyone here in Pittsburgh KNOWS God loves the Steelers! I'm not saying He loves them best but they do give Him a twinkle in his eye!

I am surprised this post is allowed to stay, it's controversial and probably greatly embellished. This "story" has been widely discounted (check the internet) because abortion is illegal in the Philippines so unlikely her doctor would have recommended one.

Why is it contraversial? It is not imposing a specific belief onto others. It is simply telling a story.

I think that overtime with Tim Tebow shows that God also wanted the Stealers to give the Super Bowl XL trophy to the Referee.

Geez Wilma, much of this comes from interviews with Tebow himself. Are you saying Tebow is a liar. I doubt that he is.
I didn't post this to to be controversial. Your making it so with your embelished opinion.
I can't find the speel check on this laptop.
