Thanks for the heads up. I didn't get that.

I'm guessing the points deposits just dried right up after the change. The only time you would do that is if you can't manage to use them internally. I got in after the 28k exchanges so for me there's nothing to miss. Surely, though, there's a lot of ticked off people.

If they don't lower the required points needed for an RCI exchange, they will never pick up any volume. I wonder if they even care, of if it impacts them in any way.

I didn't get that email either

If I go into the RCI portal (via the Wyndham site) will it give details as to how this discount works?

i.e. will the points that I deposit now enjoy a discount until I make a trade --- Or, do I have to make a trade now (before 4/19/12)

I did not get the email (or possibly it made my spam filter), but I was seeing discounted point values for a few different areas/times I checked. Not everywhere, but an interesting cross-section of places.

Not sure how clearly the portal explains it - I'm still way too steamed over what they did to exchanges to check it out. I wonder if they sent the email to me since I've essentially abandoned RCI as a Wyndham option since the change?

This isn't enough to lure me back. Right now RCI is offering a TPU sale in areas where I've been searching - I can book a 2-br unit for 5 TPUs for a nice early summer week. It would still cost me way too much in Wyndham points (at least 70K even at a full 50% off, right?) compared to the multiple weeks I could get from one of my non-Wyndham weeks.

As best I can tell, the discount applies to the trade you're making, not the deposit of points - so you would have to make a trade prior to 4/19 to take advantage.

I didn't dig through the portal site, but I didn't actually see any reference to the deal as I was checking to see what was discounted. In fact, they don't even show the original points requirements crossed out or anything like that - the only way I could tell that a unit had a discounted points requirement is that the amount of points didn't match with any of the fixed values in the Wyn/RCI points grid.

Sarah is correct that the discount is on the spending side, not the deposit side. Also, as far as I could tell, there weren't any "sale" markings or notices - the discounted points cost would just show for the unit where applicable. It wasn't marked as "discounted", but if you know the chart, you know it was. For example, studios that would normally be 74k were 37.5. I think the discount is only going about 60 days out.

On a side note, has anyone seen an issue with searching in RCI. when i was messing around with it today, it looks like it is holding the original criteria even if you click the "x" next to it. For example, in the past I always put palm aire's # in to search, then remove palm aire and I can find anything I want. Now when i do that and click back on USA it only gives me palm aire. How can I get to an overall search of everything that is available?

heres the workaround ive found. First select region and date criteria, then when you get to results, top left green button click new search. Then it will take you back to original page, only on the lower right under recommended area suggestions, it now shows the region you previously selected. When you click that it will go back to results, this time with no date parameters, showing everything that is available.

I went into the RCI-Wyndham portal and did see some units on sale. And, you are correct, I didn't see any "sale" markings - I just see the units costs are lower than the grid. I looked in both Orlando and New England and saw discounts. There are definitely some good values to be had.

Wouldn't it be great, if RCI offered discounts, in the RCI-Wyndham Portal, on "overstock" units (the last minute or shoulder season or overbuilt areas) on a permanent basis ????
