He was a favorite in the Hispanic community of Mexico. His Number 34 was retired by the Dodgers after 30 plus year and maybe now he will elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

FernandoMania was the best. A great ambassador for his homeland, and an incredible pitcher. His knuckleball was lights out.

Great memories. It's an example of the upside of what sports can mean to a community.

It also brings back to my mind Mark "The Bird" Fidrych, a few years earlier in Detroit.
