I left Florida this afternoon, temperatures were around 70.

I flew back to Maine, where snow and temperatures were about 20 below (wind chill).

BRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!

And that is why the weather channel is popular ... so as for you to know leaving Florida was not a very bright move ... should have stayed in FL til May, ;)

I like traveling the other way around, going from -18 to 70! My best vacation was 2 yrs ago when we left 2 hours before a 2 foot snowfall, followed by 10 degree average temperatures that lasted our whole trip away. Nothing like checking the temperatures back home when we are on vacation in Florida in
the winter!

I remember one time when I was living in Calgary. The temperature was 40 below zero and a Chinook blew in raising the temperature to 32 above (still freezing right?) in a very short period of time. The sun was out and guys were outside cleaning the snow off their cars with their shirts off.

Please tell us you are just kidding. In Virginia, 6 inches of snow or more is a total night mare. Supermarkets are jam pack. No bread, no milk, no water, no schools are opening and no cans good are left in the supermarket.

Frigid out but nice and toasty in our home with the wood stove going- non-stop since October. I am not bothered by the weather at all.:)

Not kidding. Often the high for the day would be 35 below zero. Because I didn't have a trickle charger on my battery I had take it into my apartment every night or else I wouldn't be able to start my car in the morning.

It's all a matter of what you've gotten used to. When we lived in central MI we'd get stretches where it didn't get above 0F for a couple of weeks or more at a time. We took a sort of perverse pride in it and actually got disappointed when the thermometer climbed above zero. Now that we've lived in S Carolina for going on 13 years, we're chilled to the bone when it drops below 40F or so.

We used to laugh at my Mom when she came to visit us in MI from FL at Christmas. Now we understand ...

DRI: The Point at Poipu, 3 deeded weeks, 1 of which is in The Club.
We also went the opposite direction. When we arrived in Kauai yesterday it was 85 degrees. The morning temp in MN was -9 (with no wind). 85 degrees never felt so good.
