Migraines, a particularly severe type of headache that can cause pain and visual disturbances, often last for hours or days, disrupting one’s life. Pain killers and other acute treatments often fail to provide relief from these migraines; instead, most treatments are for preventing chronic migraines. That has changed with the FDA’s approval of a new drug that offers immediate, rather than preventative, relief.

PLUS, no matter what you may think, your insurer will tell you that you must take a generic (including opiates) before this. It's known as "Step Therapy". But, you can have your doctor request an exemption. And if it's not in your insurer's formulary (drugs they cover), the doctor can request a Formulary Exemption. Insurance companies bank on doctors and patients not fighting, but they will bend their rules for doctors who push back.

Yes. I had an exemption for Zolmitriptan, which is the only thing that has helped in the past. Next time I see my physician, I'll ask.
