Thinking about putting in a request for Hilton Head or Myrtle Beach next summer. I'm looking for opinions on what the most desirable resorts would be. Thanks.

We liked SurfWatch best, thus why we bought there

We liked Barony as well

We live about 15 minutes from you on L.I.

No question....the only timeshare we would consider in Myrtle Beach is Ocean Watch. JMHO (just my humble opinion)

We've stayed at Grande Ocean and Monarch on Hilton Head and checked out Surf Watch & Barony (all OF). If room (space) were an issue SurfWatch is the only one offering 3 bedrooms. Otherwise for location we really find Sea Pines to be the best community (JMHO) on the island. We love both Grande Ocean (which provides access) and Monarch which is located inside SeaPines. Of all four Marriotts...Grande, Monarch, Surf, & Barony - Monarch has the smallest units - but they've all been upgrade, i.e. granite, etc and are all 2 bedrooms.

We were just at Monarch 2 weeks ago and Ocean Watch in June. I would return to and recommend either one of them highly (or any of the other three OF resorts)!

This question has been asked a million times. Try searching for your answer on the Marriott board and you will find an abundance of answers!

For Hilton Head Grande Ocean wins hands down for the following: right on the ocean, near Coligny Circle, free passes to Sea Pines, lots to do in the area, can bike to many things. Surfwatch is very nice, but the location isn't the best if you like the Sea Pines area.

Ocean Watch is awesome. Great quiet location in a gated community and ten minutes from the chaos of Myrtle Beach if/when you want that type of fun (I do, and really enjoy the contrast).

Thanks for the replies.

I liked Barony, but didn't love it. If I were to go back, I'd go after Grand Ocean. :)

Hands down at HHI, Grande Ocean, SurfWatch, Barony Beach Club, Disney's Hilton Head, and the Harbour Club at Harbour Town.

How was Harbour Club? I've been thinking that I'd like to try it. I am not really a 'beach' person, besides taking long walks, I don't like to lay out in the sun and prefer to swim in the pool rather than the ocean. I do really like water views, though. Do HC units have balconies and water views? I do like that area.

Harbour Club great location on Sea Pines Island at Harbour Town. Unit size very nice and very large. Outstanding water front views.

I love Ocean Watch in Myrtle Beach. It is a fantastic resort. Barony, Monarch, Surfwatch, and Grande Ocean are also great resorts in Hilton Head.
Barony is my favorite.

I've seen Barony (own there but have not stayed) and stayed at Grande Ocean and SurfWatch.

Grande Ocean has my vote. It has more pools that the other two on my list, the pools are bigger, and it has a great little bar area. The bar area at SurfWatch is too far from most of the buildings. I found Barony on the smallish side and I prefer larger resorts like Grande Vista, Ocean Pointe, Cypress Harbour, and Grande Ocean.

We are just back from Harbour Club, and we liked it so much we traded into it again for next year. We rode our bikes to the beach each day which was about 15 minutes each way. Sea Pines has wonderful bike trails and it's great for long walks too.
HC is a much smaller resort than the oceanfront locations, but that's what we found so very charming about it. The pool is small, quiet, and very relaxing and there are only about 40 units there. Our villa balcony overlooked the pool and the Calibogue Sound. It was great being right in Harbour Town too.

Harbour Club

Harbour Club has the best floorplan of any Marriott we have stayed in. Also very roomy.

Great to hear, we wil be going to Harbour Club in 2 weeks for the first time. Did you bring your bikes or rent them? What is the beach club at Monarch like? I know its small, but is there anything we should ask for as far as units go?

We rented our bikes down there, from Island Cruisers. They drop the bikes off and pick them up too.
The beach club by the Monarch was nice. I think it's called the Sea Pines Beach Club. There are bathrooms, a small giftshop, craft activities for kids, and an outdoor eating area. There was a covered bar area for drinks and both a covered eating area and an area with umbrellas to eat food ordered from the grill. I thought it was nice. Show your Harbour Club room key and you get a 10% discount off on the food.

Harbour Club has on site bike rentals. No activities at the resort they were held at Monarch down the road. We liked our unit and there are two master suites. Pool is small but Harbor Town is across the street and we enjoyed our stay. There was a beach trolley and Sea Pines beach is down the road. Best bike trails are in Sea Pines just so pretty and relaxing. The unit we stayed in had a triple size balcony that faced the courtyard.

I have stayed at 3 Marriott resorts on HH so far and toured the interiors of all but Surfwatch. I have seen the SW grounds but prefer other Marriotts. I do like the fact that some units are 3bd and that would be perfect if our sons decide to vacation with us. I can't stand those dreaded pull out couches.

My favorite resort overall is Barony. We have been three times. Barony has a nice lobby,3 pools(2 outdoor and 1 indoor) ,acEuropean spa and a killer gym that faces the courtyard and to me is much more welcoming.

Grande Ocean has 8 or more buildings and a great location. I have not seen it since they pruned trees to let more light in and expanded the gym area. Courtyard was quite dark and dense when we stayed there and I found the lobby very small for such a big resort. It is the most popular of all MAR island resorts.

In 7 weeks I will be staying at Monarch as a comparison. Down side is twin beds in the 2nd bedroom and it is not as upscale as some of the others but I know many Tuggers like it there and it's on the beach.
