We went for a Jeep ride today. We made it to the five fingers and couldn't get to the trail on top but the views were great. Here is a picture of Tahoma aka Mt Rainier. It's getting winterery up there.

It's cold and dreary in Minnesota. We're counting the days (64) until Hawaii.

Sorry for piggybacking on your post but you might enjoy this:

  • Here is the Fishers Family pier in Pompano Beach. Check out how it looks like a pompano (fish)
  • These doohickeys are on the top of each of the columns at the pier. Are they lighting rods?
  • Evidence that the pelicans are following social distancing
  • Do you know what the dark spot in the ocean is on the bottom photo? (We didn't realize until a fisherman explained it to us)

Are the dark spots schools of bait fish or pomps ?

I tried fishing the Dana Beach Pier once. I was told that I missed the pomp run by 2 days but that they would be back anytime now. I caught some type of croaker and gave it to a group next to me.

27 years ago, about two years after we moved into our current home, I planted several 8 ft Sugar Maples (Acer Saccharum)
and one special red Japanese Maple in our front yard.
Only ONE reason: I wanted my young children to be able to take a beautiful Fall leaf specimen to school (or wherever) and be able to say,
"This came from my yard".
Now the sugar maple trees are huge, well over 30 ft tall, and the foliage color is magnificent every Fall, except for last year  .
The Sugar Maples change about the 2nd week of November; the red Japanese Maple in mid-December, just in time for Christmas!
People stop and just stare or take pics, or they go slowly and crane their necks to see, or they get out and take serious pictures---
Many have come to the front door to ask if they could take a family photo while standing underneath them.
So of course it's a matter of pride every year when the leaves begin turning, and when they peak it's just downright ridiculous how gorgeous they are.
About mid-morning the sun hits them in such a way that the leaves look like they're on fire, and all day long they have a different look
because of the sun's changing angles, etc.

Here are just a few pics from different angles.....(note: they peak at different times, varying as much as a week.)

Here's a shot in downtown Boise, near the blue turf of Boise State's stadium, about 3 blocks from our condo. Check out this dude's harem: That's the Boise River, and a Blue Heron flying towards us. This was just a cell phone photo.

. . .And kind of a general Fall look over the changing colors of the season.

These are from last fall but still pretty. The first maple tree is on our friend's lawn and it usually goes a brilliant shade of red every year. Every time we went past this year it was cloudy and I think the tree looks better against a blue sky, this was the closest I could come to not a dreary gray day.

This next photo is from just around the corner from our street in the great metropolis of Moonstone ON.

Our DD took this one just as the leaves were starting to turn in Sept. It is a small island very near to where she lives on Georgian Bay at Port Severn ON.
