A friend's mother owns points at Fairfield Harbor. She went to a meeting in NJ where she was told that their was a change in the management company and that they needed her to close again, and that it entailed some beneficial changes to her MF's. My friend didn't have any direct paperwork, so I have nothing to review.

I'm very familiar with Wyndham and own points myself. Before I dig into this further to try and protect her, does anyone know of any changes going on at Fairfield Harbor?

It sounds like they're just trying to sell her more/different points, probably CWA.

A few years back they were attempting to get owners to switch from RCI Weeks to RCI points system which would require changes that I did not investigate though I am sure that it involves some contractual modifications and more money for the flexibility of points vs weeks. On second thought Wyndham NJ sales office would have nothing to do with what I just suggested,. It must certainly be CWA they were selling… As stated by Scott.

Fairfield harbor is no longer a Wyndham managed resort. The letter I got today with next years budget says it's been 5 years

So whatever you see is no doubt either from the management company or their sales dept trying to extract money from you

Your Wyndham points are still good here and at all the other Wyndham resorts

This is consistent with what they were told. As another person also said, it involve RCI points. What I don't understand is that they said they own at Fairfield Harbor yet it's no longer under Wyndham management. I've never thought about it, but I guess that you can own Wyndham points at a resort that's not managed by Wyndham. What are the implications of that, if any?

What's clearly NOT on the up and up is that they indicated that by closing again and then getting RCI points, that they'd have the MF's covered for 10 years. That just sound like a salesmen's distortion of the truth.

This is not the only place not managed by Wyndham, where you can own Wyndham points, Some like Star Island never were managed (or Developed) by Wyndham But the points work like points deeded at the Wyndham managed resorts. I don't see any implications
