Just now got cold-called with an invitation to take a no-cost & no-obligation timeshare tour at FairField Alexandria & for that receive valuable gifts including a $1,000 on-line shopping spree & a digital camera.

Shucks, I like timeshare tour freebies as well as the next guy -- maybe even a bit more -- but I am skeptical about a "shopping spree," on-line or otherwise, worth 1,000 actual dollars.

That is to say, most timeshare tour freebies I've grabbed up over the years have been in the $75 - $150 value range.

So what's up with FairField Alexandria & their offer of a $1,000 on-line shopping spree & a digital camera?

Just remember that there are now "throw away"/single use digital camera now. So that may be of little value. Also as you said $1000 for online shopping may also not be valued by you or me at anywhere near $1000.

As you said $150 is generally the most you get for a TS tour.

My guess is that the $1000 comes in the form of coupons which would be of no use to most people, and the rest could only use one or maybe two of them.

I received a book once from a timeshare presentation that was worth $500 of free merchandise. Each page had a "free" item on it. The shipping costs were more than the "free" items were worth. I would check that out.

You can buy these $1,000 shopping spree certificates on Ebay for $1 - $10, depending on how many you buy. The certificates can only be used for shopping on a particular website. If you want to check it out, go to:

www.freegiftsamerica.com

Enter demo1 in the pass code box. You'll quickly figure out the scheme. It's not a gift, that's for sure.

We "won" a free $1500 shopping spree at a car dealership once. We were very excited until we went to the web site and saw only junk for sale and everything had very high shipping fees. And for this my husband waited in line at the dealership for over 2 hours to confirm that we had indeed won. I was furious when we say what they were really giving us. I didn't take the time to blast the dealership as we were in the process of moving, but it was really a case of false advertising.
