I have a friend who just got back and almost bought from the resort. At dinner I detailed to him his near disasterous mistake.

He remains interested in a resale. Understands the lifetime of maintenance payments that can climb alarmingly as the resort ages or as other don't pay up. Has young kids and wants to go to Disney every year.

With all of that said, is picking up someone's week for free really a fair price for a Summer non-holiday week? Should he be holding out for getting paid or getting prepaid next year maintenance to take it off someone's hands?

Any insight from people who have first hand knowledge would be appreciated.

Resorts Owned
WKORV, WKV, 2-SDO, 4-Kauai Beach Villas, Island Park Village (Yellowstone), Hyatt High Sierra, Dolphin's Cove (Anaheim)
Sheraton Vistana Resort or Sheraton Vistana Villages?

What phase? What week?

Yes, free is the going price for SVR and some weeks at SVV.

Yes, he might get free closing, and next year's maintenance fees paid - they have already been paid at this point, unless the owner is in arrears.

There are lots of weeks available at this resort - he should take his time and do some research first.

He should track this resort on ebay.
