Since late November my friend has had extreme pain in her right leg, starting at her calf it quickly spreads up to the top of her hip ... but only when standing. For some reason she's ok when walking, sitting, sleeping or climbing stairs...but as soon as she is standing still for 5 seconds the pain returns with a vengeance and only subsides when she moves. Grocery shopping doesn't bother her except for the cashier lineup. On a scale of 10 she rates the pain as 10 and it's been going on for months.
Her GP referred her to a vascular surgeon but even he doesn't know what it is. She's had an ultrasound Doppler test which showed a moderate plaque build up (76% ?) but not enough to operate. Left leg was clear. A varicose vein test showed they were just surface and not the cause of pain. On paper there's nothing wrong to explain the pain.
As the extreme pain when standing continues her doctor is giving her a CT scan tomorrow with dye
What suggestions do any of you have or questions to ask the doctor? I'm really worried about her...and so is she. Thanks so much.
