Hi Madge,

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I can't find a similar post.

I have a search on at two wine country Worldmark resorts in California for June 2006. Today I went into RCI's Extra Vacation web page and noticed one of them (Windsor) having weeks (6/6, ~$800) available for rent during the time I am searching for. If this/these units are available to rent, should they not also be available for exhange?

The RCI web page says the following about where these EV come from:

"Extra Vacations come from various sources, such as when members decide to take a cruise instead of vacationing at their resort. Or when we have access to an abundance of seasonal inventory in certain areas. Sometimes we even go out and find special deals at the places our members have been asking for."

I can understand that, in the last case, if RCI goes out and especially finds these deals, then they will be available for rent only, but in the first two situations, why are these units not also available for exchange?

Hope you can help me understand how this all works.

Thanks,

Marg

Marg,

Some of the units you see in Extra Vacations that aren't available for exchange were obtained via Cruise Exchanges or Points Partner reservations. Because these vacations were not deposited for the purpose of exchanging, they are not available as exchange vacations. (Note: It is possible that the units are comparable units being offered in place of the actual units that were traded if they were already assigned when the member requested the cruise, etc.)

If these weeks are still available on short notice (less than 7 days before travel), they may be moved into the exchange program for members.
