I am based in the PNW and worldmark seems like it has a great presence here. I’d love to explore the region a bit more. I feel like I understand the points system and fees reasonably well, but what I don’t feel like I have is a good grasp on availability.

I’d mostly always be booking 1 bed and studios, but if I have to plan out a long weekend a year in advance there is a lot of appeal lost. I’m sure it depends on time of year but for those of you that stay frequently, what’s your experience like?

The key will be where do you want to go and when. Oregon Coast in the summer - even booking right at 13 months there will like;y be limited availability. Same with Leavenworth WA in the Fall for Christmas decorations.

Only booking 1BD and Studios will help since the high demand is for two bedrooms (just FYI a few of popular resorts only offer 2BD like Depoe Bay and Victoria).

Also short stays using your points are not as good a deal due to the need for a Housekeeping Token for any stay regardless of length. You could use other options like Bonus Time, but those won't be an option at popular resorts at popular times.

I would suggest checking out wmowners.com - a website by owners for owners - for more info.

General timeshare advice is if you are not comfortable making long range plans, timeshares might not be a good fit for you. I own credits and find a lot of value in the program. But I plan way ahead and mostly make reservations 13 months ahead of time. One good thing about the program is you can cancel a reservation up to 31 days before check-in with no penalty.

Just for fun, I searched WM inventory for the “North West” region for a full week in mid-Oct, the 18th-25th. Here is what turned up for the FULL Week stay:
* WM Birch Bay; 3 unit types: Studio, 1BR and 2BR
* WM Blaine; 2 unit types: 1BR, 3BR
* WM Eagle Crest; 1 unit type: 1BR Hotel
* WM Running Y; 1 unit type: 1BR
* WM 7th Mountain; 2 unit types: 1BR Fractional; Studio
* WM Surfside Inn; 1 unit type: 1BR and 1BR Mobility

Of course, there would be more options for short stays w/in those dates.

I’d suggest your best bet is to buy a small WM account (5k?) and then hunt inventory for cash bookings using Monday Madness and Inventory Specials. The Housekeeping charges are included in both of those reservation types.

Thanks ill take a look at that. In case it doesn't work out, I saw there is a deedback program. Does anyone know if that is still active? I see lots of WM deeds for free, even offering incentives, but I am not sure why

Lots of folks are aging out & exiting TSs in general + folks financial situation changes (job losses), illness/sickness , so lots of available TSs in all systems... (as discretionary expense which folks cut back if having financial stress)...
Resale for most TSs is nominal (except DVC)...
You have been excellent advice by folks above already.
Do keep in mind, October tends to be shoulder season for many resorts & hence may have availability for week long stays but any Hawaii resorts tend to be booked solid at 13 months, to the minute. Similar for Oceanside summer etc.
WM is not Marriott or Hilton or DVC but if you keep expectations modest, it is a great way to experience some amazing vacays, esp if you enjoy NP/outdoorsy vacays, esp many loxns in PNW (+ remote loxns, where there are no Hilton or Marriott TSs)...
May pick a free, small play account as suggested above & see how it fits your use case & decide for yourself :) !
Best in your journey!

Why would anyone stay at Worldmark Blaine/Birch Bay? The ¿Beach? Is mud. Even the locals drive about an hour away for Dinner Out. We had a week Booked there a few years ago as a stop from Canmore to Salem. After a couple days we packed up early and headed home to Salem.

Oh, so sorry — I don’t know.

At first, I figured I’d answer an inventory question with my past experiences (pleasantly successful, mostly SoCal, generally between 2 weeks to 3 mos from travel)… but I figured my use pattern might not be relevant to PNW … that is why I picked a random week that wasn’t a year out and also wasn’t truly “last minute.”

I don’t disagree with advice suggesting if you want PNW coastal during peak seasons: plan to book these very, very early!

Its the tide pools and easy pickings on dungenous crab. The little bumps in the sand are sometimes crab. Birch Bay sand warms the water as the tide comes in making it kind of warmer water until high tide. Its fairly close to Semiahmoo golf and resort and the State Park.

For us its only a late summer or early fall destination and even then , everything you said is true. For me the reason to go might be fishing or crabbing.

Oh, boy! Now I want to go! 🦀

When it comes to waitlists, are you able to specify a specfic check in day over a period of time? Like say, any thursday/friday checkin over these 60 days, or is it just number of days over period of time?

The program to give back a Worldmark membership is free but is off and on. I was going to use their program when it was open but they couldn't verify my social security number and sent a letter in the mail to change it. Anyways, after sending them the information the program was paused and I still have it. It doesn't matter to me anymore if I have it or not.

If you want a free Worldmark memb3rship there are plenty of them available.

Reserving the rooms can be a pita with all of the problems regarding the website. I try to reserve at 13 month's out at midnight using the website.

I only wait list a specific week if I didn't get my 13 month out reservation. My problem has always been the wait list takes longer than finding another usable reservation somewhere else.

birch bay is a popular vacation spot for alot of border towns both canadian and us. Alot of friends and family have stayed at various campsites. Blaine is nearby and quaint as well and the area is pretty close to lynden, bellingham, and the seaside drives. I'd consider hopping over if the resort had a pool for my kids. The beach is great for beach combing too.

We just booked at wm surfside inn in ocean park (near long beach) for feb 2027. Storm watching in the long beach corridor, possibly the start of an early clamming season and a pool sounds good (so far) as husband doesn't want another flight...so we'll roadtrip down from the us border (have 2 other exchanges coming up)

What are the other best and worst WM properties in WA?

I don’t hear talk about some of these other locations like Long Beach, Mariner Village, Surfaide Inm

Also is the Discovery Bay location one that needs to be booked at 13 months?

It depends on what you want. We hate Birch Bay/Blaine. We love Long Beach and Seattle. Discovery Bay is good for itself and all the nearby locations. We mainly use it for a stop over on the way to the Ferry to Victoria. We enjoyed Leavenworth. Not for October Fest but for the town and the surrounding area.

Discovey Bay is fun in August. The squid come to the docks and are easy to catch. Boats are or were allowed to be moored at the dock.

The best for me personally is Long Beach for salmon season. My wife likes Leavenworth the best.

You probably allready know that the Surfside pool and hot tub are indoors. There are dressing rooms too. I really like this because it can be a bit chilly at the other beach resorts in the evening.

I am going to Blaine/Birch Bay this weekend. It is easy to get into this time of the year and relaxing. We went last year during 4th of July and they have best fireworks that I have ever seen! They were better than Long Beach.

we live in white rock immediately across from the blaine bay. we often watch the fireworks from peace arch park!

I have always gotten my wait list requests. Sometimes too late, and I have booked something else. I was just offered Coral Baja for the week of Christmas when I have waitlisted it, it was level 2. I had already booked travel to something I didn't have to waitlist though. So although, when I search inventory, I can't find what I want, I have always had someplace to go. I only own 6000 points and plan a week away every other year . Deciding if when I retire I get more points or just rent what is available.

I didn't get my waitlist this year for next week at Dolphin's Cove. I requested a 2 or 3 bedroom. Staying at Newport Coast, but I love being at Dolphin's Cove.

That was where we were at a couple of years ago. We rented credits from others and that did work as long as I planned for the time it took to transfer credits before the 13 months out deadlines. We are on our second year of a large WM membership and I'm finding that this is working out pretty good. I can transfer credits to our 6000 credit membership and make four reservations at the same resort in the same week without using a guest certificate.
