Similar question. We just purchased points resale. Our use year is biennial, Jan1 2024. We booked one vacation in October, but have 239,000 points that we can't deposit to RCI (they had to be deposited by March), even though we just got the points allocated to us in July. What can we do with our leftover points before they expire since depositing in Rci is no longer an option? Can they be put in II (I have a membership there)?
Depositing points in one of two future use years and depositing points in RCI are two different things.
For depositing/moving points to a fututue use year, as a resale or non VIP owner you have to do that within the first three months of your use year. There's a $39 fee when you do it online, $49 when you call in to have a rep do it for you, and you select which of the two future use years you want the points in. However any remaining housekeeping credits you have left for the current use year won't follow those points. Housekeeping credits are $175 if you have to buy them. Each reservation of 2-14 nights uses one housekeeping credit. Unit size doesn't matter.
Depositing points in RCI gives you two years from the date of the deposit to use them. There's no fee to deposit points in RCI but there will be a $299 exchange fee for each week you book with those points. RCI has thousands of resorts in this country and other countries that you can book. Most of the availbility will be full week stays starting on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Some resorts might only have one of those days their weeks start, some two and some all three. There are some resorts that do offer less than full week stays but I'm not sure if there's a reduced exchange fee or it's always $299 with the Wyndham/RCI account bookings. It doesn't say but there is a reduced excange fee with regular RCI accounts. However you do pay a housekeeping fee for less than full week stays.
It's best not to wait until the last day of your use year to do either. The website can get overloaded and the call wait time can be really long. Sometimes the calls get disconnected and you have to call back and start the wait time all over. Sometmes you can't get through before the call center closes.
II isn't an option. There are a very few owners who still have something with an affiliation in II. Even if what you own orginally had that I'm guessing it would be lost when it was transferred to the new owner..
