We have 550 destination points which we must use by Dec. 31. We were thinking of using them at the Mayflower in Washington DC. I have never been there and know nothing about the Mayflower. Is this a good way to use the points? Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

The Mayflower is an iconic DC hotel, and is in a great location for seeing the sites of DC. I say it would be a great use.

My sister stayed at the Mayflower for a week three years ago. Liked it so much, she wanted to go back, but Covid hit. After listening to her stories about her stay, I would say great use of points.

Great use of points. Central location to visit Washington DC sights. Metro stop is steps away from the hotel entrance.

Mayflower is great! Wonderful use of points for a couple nights. We have a similar plan for some extra DC Pts we haven’t used yet.

Do it!

We have booked some days at the Mayflower with our points. If we are lucky enough to be able to get some points back within the 60 day time frame, must we call Marriott or is there a way to do that on the internet?
thanks again for all the help.

There are a some things to understand about DC right now. First, most people aren't back in the office including the government so it may be a little bit dead around K street, especially at night. Second, DC is aggressive with masking policy so expect to deal with that. I would look at a map to get your bearing. You are four blocks from the White House south and four blocks from Dupont Circle the other direction. When you look at the map, it can be deceiving. You are over 2 miles by foot to the Capitol. Just make sure you understand how much walking is involved. Uber and Lyft are your friends.

DC is a great walking city! ...and the Metro and regular taxicabs are also available. If you are flying into DCA, check to see whether the Information Desk has their usual (non-pandemic) stock of maps and flyers about different parts of the area.
