I'm interested at some point in the future of exchanging my early March Monarch at Sea Pines week for a Hyatt.

If I currently search out from 2013 - 2014, I get nothing.
But I just noticed this AM, if I did a search for only 6 months out, I got 4-5 resorts.

I know that the rating II gives my week will affect some of my searching, but are there any other factors that might be at play?

Thanks.
Nancy

I guess the fundamental issue here is how soon can Hyatt owners reserve and deposit a week. Not being a Hyatt owner I cannot say but if it is like the MVCI system, then single weeks may only be reserved 12 months ahead and then deposited with II. Multiple week reservations may be made 13 months ahead. So a multiple weeks owner in Marriott could book and then deposit 13 months ahead. However there are stories around that if a multiple weeks booking is broken up and deposited with II before the 12 month ahead point, Marriott can cancel the booking as being outside the rules.

If Hyatt operates a 12 month ahead booking system then as of now you should not expect to see any weeks in the II system after May 2013.

Additionally Hyatt may operate a preference system for Hyatt owners within II similar to Marriott where owners only see availability for the first so many days after deposit in II.

Also what you see as available in II on-line is only what is left after the daily sweep in the II system looking for matches for pending requests has been completed.

So I am not at all surprised that you are not seeing anything in the 2013 to 2014 time-frame. My advice would be to decide what resorts you would like and what dates and then put in a request for the system to do the searching for you.

All good thoughts. I'm new to II this year. Does the system searching cost anything?

Hyatt works more like Starwood than Marriott. Owners do not get to select the week they deposit. Owners indicate they want to deposit their weeks to II (and then receive the corresponding number of points to use in II). Hyatt and II settle the books behind the scenes - Hyatt deposits weeks not typically in high demand by their owners (not necessarily the same weeks owned by their depositing members). A good way to see a sampling of the weeks Hyatt deposits, and when, would be to search the Sightings Board for "Hyatt.".

Hyatt is similar to Starwood/Hilton system - owner decide to exchange through II or RCI, then developer takes certain amount of points from owner's account depends on the season and unit size they get. And owners can deposit their Hyatt points to II to extend its usage life.

Anyway, Hyatt deposits bulk weeks to II most likely should season weeks, but sometimes can see prime weeks at last minute.
When I checked Hyatt online availability, if prime weeks popped up at last minute (maybe last minute cancellation) and it wasn't taken by Hyatt owners for several days, then it showed up in II inventory soon.

Hyatt deposit bulk weeks to II at 5-8 months out.
If you want 2013 spring week, you need to wait until fall 2012.

Hyatt have their own internal booking system. you can only get the week at 12 months out so you probably would not see any further than that.

From 12 months out to 4 months before their week, owners can choose to deposit in II. You don't get to choose the resort or date but say you want a red 1bdrm or yellow studio or green 2bdrm say and Hyatt will deduct the relevant number of points from your account and they decide what they deposit. Hyatt may also decide to deposit some developer inventory.

If you tell us which Hyatts you are looking at and what timeframe, you might be able to tell you what your chances are to get the trade in II.

First choice would be: Highlands in Carmel. But that is a Residence Club, so it probably wouldn't appear in the lists.

My second tier of choices would be:
Bonita Springs and Key West
San Antonio
Sedona
Boston

We're not point owners in either Hyatt or Marriot. We own a Marriott Monarch at Sea Pines deeded week in early March.

All of you have given me great tips.
Thanks.

We have successfully traded into Hyatts twice this year. We traded our Marriott points to Hyatt in Carmel (wow what great weather we had and a unit with a wonderful view) and also have a pending trade into Key west for Aug.

So yes you can get a hyatt

Hyatt does not have a HRC property in Boston.

Carmel is still under developer sales and Hyatt themselves seem to deposit some developer weeks at highlands Inn occassionally.

Key West chances are high if you are okay with any of the 3 properties and are not going peak season. Sunset Harbour is the hardest but there were a few sightings. earlier this year. I had traded into Hyatt Beach House twice in December a couple of years apart before I bought Hyatt.

There were some sighting for some of the others location too but more shoulder season too.
