Anyone familiar with exchanging at II? We didn't get to go to WSJ 2 years ago and I had no choice but to bank my week at II. We received an email saying we had until June 2012 to use it. I have a few questions regarding this.

1. Does this mean use it by June or make reservations by June?

2. How does exchanging for a cruise work? Has anyone ever done this? The reason I ask is $$ is tight and food would be included in a cruise.

3. any suggestions...?

Thanks!!

The cruises are not usually a very good deal. You have to give up your deposit + pay a fee that's usually close to the discounted rate that you can get anywhere. You can see the offers on the II website.

I called II to ask about the cruise. They were only giving me $800 credit on a cruise! Thats insane! the cost was $2200 so I would have to pay $1400. No way.

For a low maintenance fee resort, the cruise exchange makes marginal sense, but not in general.

Congrats! You should join TUG so you have access to the Sightings Forum - the availability of the Harborside units was posted there.

Are all the people working at Starwood in training?

I called today to deposit one side of my Scottsdale WKV. Boy did I get the run around. I was told I had already used my 2012 Westin deposit. I have had a bad year with my previous two deposits with starwood/II, this year and couldn't believe another mistake. She had me stay on hold, while she reached II. They informed her that I was correct and my Westin was available because they had made an error. I never deposited a Westin, two Sheratons. After I tore apart my files, pulling out my information she said Oh, I am sorry every thing you said was correct I was looking at your Sheraton because we deal with Sheraton and Westins and I got them confused. She said could now deposit my one side WKV. Next time I believe I will ask for a supervisor after a very bad year dealing with my Starwood/II deposits.
