Hopefully I will explaine this right. I currently own a two bedroom lock out at Grand Vista/Marriott in Orlando. In 2007 I want to lock it off use 1 week at Grande Vista in March and exchange the other week for Vegas in the Fall 2007. In doing the exchange part I have to first book a week with Grande Vista, in addition to the week that I am going to use, and then give it to II for exchange. Do I have a choice as to what week I can book with Marriott or do I have to take what they offer for exchange? If I can book the week that I want for exchange which week would you suggestt? I am in Canada so I am not sure what weeks would be attractive to U.S. famalies traveling to Orlando. Our unit is a float week/platinum season? Can anyone help or have I made this very confusing?

Reserve a Summer Week

Call Owner Services and split your week. Reserve your March week and your trade week which should be a Summer week (others may have more specific details as to what to reserve). Then call the II and ask for the Marriott desk. Tell them that you want to exchange your summer week for a Las Vegas Fall week. I assume that you'll want to stay at the new Grand Chateau. The rep at the II Marriott desk should be able to take it from there by depositing your week, making the exchange and collecting the applicable fees.

Is this the explanation you were looking for or did I misread your question?

I believe that is what I am looking for, are you saying that a desirable week in Orlando would be in the summer, or would it be better say Thanksgiving week (U.S.) , or does it make a difference in my exchange power what week I deposit? On another note what does AC stand for?

Call II and Ask.

Other that the long wait time for a Marriott desk rep, I've found them very helpful in my limited experience. If you call and tell them what you want to do, they may be able to walk you through the process. I can't see Grand Chateau availability for the Fall of 2007 because those weeks have not been deposited yet. But earlier today I did a search for this Fall with my MGV efficiency and there was plenty of Grand Chateau units available. So it may be too early to get this all done now.

An AC is short hand for "Accomodation Certificate." II gives them as an incentive for folks to deposit their high demand weeks early. Basically an AC gives you a week at a reduced rate - like $299 for a two bedroom. The AC is given at the time of the deposit and it is good for one year. Anything in II's invetory is available 60 days from booking, but there are restrictions if you want to book more far in advance - usually to weeks that places and seasons that the general public would not find desirable.

I hope this helps.

You have been very helpful I really appreciate it. You seem to really know what you are talking about, I would love to pick your brain on various topics of timesharing and exchanging. Thanks again.

You are welcome.

There are many folks here that know far, far, more about timeshares than I do. I feel confident in helping when I can because others that know more than me will step in and correct me if what I advice I offer is lacking in accuracy.

Charles

PS I just did a serch for a Grand Chateau efficiency with a week 41 Grande Vista efficiency and this is what if found. Most would agree that a week 41 Grande Vista efficiency is a poor trader. So, you should not have any problem if you use a platinum week as a trader.

Could make use of the Florida Club and book at OP or Beachplace, lock off and deposit and get an a/c for the 1 br deposit. Then exchange into Orlando using the 1 br and have the studio and 1 br a/c to use later. The options are many. Interval gave an a/c for GV deposits on weeks between Feb and mid April this year. From what I've read the a/c weeks have yet to be determined for most of '07, although I did hear from an Interval rep yesterday that OP is getting an a/c for next Jan/Feb or something to that effect. I think its kind of early to worry about booking Orlando for '07. I booked my '06 week at GV for mid-April just back in the summer and got a week that qualified for an a/c. So, it appears there's plenty to go around at GV. I would hesitate to book directly into GV using my home resort if I could get an a/c and still get into GV by other means. GV is so easy to get while platinum weeks at other resorts are more difficult, so I would try to use as little as possible to get into GV and save my good stuff for bigger and better trades. Just my methods of getting the biggest bang for my buck.

Ocean Pointe and Beach Place Towers

These are Marriott resorts on the Atlantic Florida coast. You may be able to boost your exchange options by taking advantage of Florida Club benefits, but it gets complicated.

Yes I gathered that after I sent it to you, so what you are saying is that those two locations would be more desirable than Grande Vista and consequently the idea of getting something additional by having those locations booked would be better? Can II give you information as to what Marriotts are more desirable than others and at what times of year?

Well - they try to do that with the new directory.

I would continue to explore your options on this board if you are going to go that route.

At begining of each regional section.

There is a chart that shows which weeks have the highest demand. Central Florida is 9 through 16. Weeks 9 and 13 are highest. But the demand is higher for the Florida Southern Coast and Keys - weeks 5 through 13. Week 14 is also very strong but not as strong as the others.

No bother.

You should see some of the mega messages some Tuggers sent me when I was deciding on what to buy!

Good luck!
