Will they exchange US traveler's check at the front desk? IF so, is it done at a reasonable exchange rate? Is there a daily limit?

Any bank ATM in the lobby? How about at the Paradise Mall?

Same about bank ATM in the airport - are there any and where are they located? Do they give you a poor exchange rate - just because it is at the airport? After the timeshare gauntlet???

We will be this week, can't wait and thanks all for the help!

We tend to use ATM's rather than credit cards for payment everywhere except for at the resort.

They have ATM machines at the resort and the bank at the Paradise Village Mall has one. We generally use ATM's as we seem to get the best exchange rate. The main thing is to remember to put how many pesos you want instead of American dollars. We have watched so many people put in $200 expecting $200 worth of US $ in pesos. Because of the ATM fee, you should get as many as you will need for several days. You can use "left-over" pesos to apply to our check out bill and for the taxi back to the airport. My brother says he always keeps some for "seed money" to come back to Mexico.

The exchange rate at the resort was really pretty good when we were there in November. It was the same as what you got in town.

I'm not sure about the Traveler's checks at the resort. Our kids went to a bank to exchange US $ and one wanted to cash Traveler's checks - they needed their passports. My brother had some problems using Traveler's checks in town for purchases in years ago.

Fantastic - so there at ATM machines right at the Grand Mayan. Can I assume the exchange rates at these ATMs are comparable to bank machines at other locations? That will be very convenient.

Last question - are there safes in the GM rooms??

Yes - there are safes in the GM rooms. If you have a 2-bedroom unit, you will have 2 safes.

We only used the ATM at the GM once, but it seemed competitive with the ones we used in town. Since we were in the PV area for 3 weeks, with the GM in the middle, we used the ATM at the bank across from the Mega in PV. We were at the Sheraton Buganvilias the week before and after the GM. Our kids and grandkids came for Thanksgiving week at the GM and we "tacked on" weeks before and after so we could use FF miles at non black-out times.

You will love the GM.
