Have an on-going search/request for an exchange into the Westin Princeville. This will be our second time exchanging into this resort using our Worldmark credits. My question...I know that last time we did our exchange, it didn't become available until maybe 6 months prior to the check-in date. I can't remember exactly when the Starwood resorts open up to exchangers? Was it 6 months prior to check-in? Just curious as to when I might get a confirmation. Thanks in advance!

There is no specific time when Starwood makes deposits, but you might be able to see a pattern by searching for this resort by name, on the TUG Sightings and Distressed Forum - right below the TUG Lounge.

What timeframe did you request?

We have exchanged into WPOVR for the last two January's using WM points. Both January exchanges showed up the last week in October, one on 10/29 and the other on 10/31. So maybe at three months out ?

My WM points only showed studios. You might consider an on-going search. What month are you looking to exchange into ?

We are at WPOVR right now and loving it. Leaving tomorrow for two nights at WM Kaapa'a Shore, then home. The WM Kaapa'a Shore is a good inexpensive option for filler days at begining or end of exchange.

Like I said, we already have an on-going search. We've exchanged into a 2 bedroom at the Westin before and I remember several Tuggers telling me back then that Westin will release weeks to exchangers so many months in advance...and they were correct, we got it right when they said! I just can't recall how many months it was.

We've visited the WM Kapaa on another trip, and while it's nice, we prefer to exchange into either the Westin or The Shearwater. Last year we exchanged our Worldmark into a 2 bedroom at the Westin Kaanapali North, Maui..gorgeous property! Kauai is still our favorite island though.

But what date did you request?

Westin will release weeks to exchangers so many months in advance

This really isn't true - they can do bulk space banking any time.

Times are tough for exchangers trying to get into the Hawaii Westin properties. We just saw a very small release of April studios (and a couple of 1br units that went almost immediately), and nobody has reported a confirmed exchange for a 2br to my knowledge. Even with Starwood preference, WPORV and WKORV are just not getting deposited lately.

Hope you guys weren't too 'stuffed' in unit. How was the limited-kitchen in the studio?

Recently, I was doing a very intense search for Kauai units (north and south) in Dec-Feb. There was very little available. I saw only a few WPOVR units--maybe one 1br, the rest were studios. Not many at all. There were lots of other 2nd tier units, but I'm not sure if I saw Shearwater more than once either. I did not note any particular timing--other than a small 'bulk'

I think most units were picked up by SVN preference (guess). It appeared to be a busy year for Kauai!

Hi Rob, the limited kitchen worked OK for us. As a previous poster said, it's really small ! But it worked for breakfasts and simple meals, we grilled any dinners we had here.

The studio is fine for two. I would not want to have anymore in here. We are sorry to leave today.

I think some of that might be attributed to the difficulty SVNers have experienced trying to get into WKORV.

The limited kitchen mean no stove otherwise it is not very limited at all. Thank you SVN for the nice sized frig. I hate those dorm room sized frigs.

The comments concerning limitation was in regards to (lack of) counter space in the kitchenette.
