exchange granted now what?

I did a deposit 1st w/my Aruba Surf Club unit in which i received an AC. I requested (for exchange of my unit) St. kitts (1 specific week) and Spain, Andaluza & Marbella for larger travel date window. I just got confirmed in St Kitts via e-mail. So what are my options now. My husband and i would really like to travel to Spain next summer, i have plenty of points in which i could use in several hotels are in one of the timeshares. I probably could get the St kitts with my AC for this November if i lookl in the flexchange, but what are my chances of holding out for Spain July-August? Is there a penalty if do not except St. Kitts? Can i still add requests to my deposited week?

I don't know about the chances to get the Spain week. But if you want to hold out and try, here is what you need to do. From the II sticky on the exchange page. You'd probably then want to remove St. Kitts from your request.

If I get a trade, can I cancel it?

• Yes, but only within 24 hours, and only by telephone. The 24 hour cancellation period starts from the time of confirmation and you must call during II’s business hours to cancel a confirmed exchange. If you have selected regular mail as your choice of notification for confirmations, you must change that to email in order for the cancellation period to apply.

i just searched this forum for Spain, and i see that Spain is a difficult request to get, and most times the request will come in 6 mos instead of a year out because of the way europeans use their timeshares. I put in Marbella & Andaluza from the end of July -August. I know that i could get ST. Kitts this November w/my AC so. Now the question is do i decline ST. Kitts for July 09 and expand my travel window for spain to include early July? If i decline St Kitts, do i have to pay any add'l fees?
My original request for my deposited week included Spain and St Kitts.

Declining an exchange in II

I know that you can decline an exchange in II with no cost to you - but I believe that you only have 24 hours after the email confirmation was sent to you from II.

If you call II w/in the 24 hrs - II rep will be able to put your exch request back in line so that you do not lose your place in the priority queue. Additionally, there is no new charge for addl exch fees.

So you must act w/in 24 hrs.

shows that II is being tough about cancelling. I'd like to know more about what happened there.

I'm not sure what to advice you about cancelling or not. Marbella was great!!! I did a direct exchange with someone with aruba who may be interested again.

so i cancelled the St. Kitts! There was no fees or problem because i was within the 24 hour period. I decided to just leave the 2 Spain properties-Marbella and Andaluza, and added some weeks to search. The rep said it shouldn't be difficult to get it, but we will see. I will look for St. Kitts with my bonus AC since i will be traveling Oct-Nov. and it seems to be available. if i don't get spain for 09 i will leave the request in until 2010. i can always travel with points or trade my 2010 week and get another AC for 09.

turned out to be a good move for me. I did get st. kitts for early nov. using my AC. Now i will hold out for Spain in '09.
