Exchange Fee Question

I am going to Orlando next May and would like a DVC exchange, however, I don't know that I am going to be patient enough to wait for my OGS to hit. It I exchange into a different location and later see a DVC in inventory, can I switch them and what would it cost me? I assume it would be a cancellation and new booking. I don't mind buying the points protection, I usually do anyway, but I am not willing to lose my $200 exchange fee and have to pay it again for the new reservation. Just not sure how it would work and I haven't been able to find anything that is clear in an online search.

Thanks!

You can't do it that way, it will cost you the exchange fee and be an absolutely pointless waste of both time and money. Just take this as a forced lesson in patience.

That's what I was afraid of. Darn. Oh well, thanks for the information.
