If after making your vacation plans for the year, you have ....say.... 5K-15K FF points left over, what do you do with those points? Is it worth $25 to put them into the pool?

You can not put points into credit pool if the use year already starts. If you are talking about 2007 points, its your decision.

If you want to rent it from owner, it is around $4. to $5 per 1k. If you pay MF on these points it is $3.5 to $6 per 1k. So its your decision if worth it by paying extra $25.

If it is current use year 2006, you can not deposit to credit pool. But it also depends on if you have any more free transaction left. If so, at the same day you set up your vacation plan, you can pick a place that within 90 days, and has point range like 28k, 70k, and make reservation, that way, you can borrow points from next use year to make a 28k or 70k. Than you cancel it and deposit the point to RCI for 2 more year.

So if the use point is start in 2007, and you don't really want to pay $25 to put them in credit pool, you can hold them till the Aug, Sept of 2007. You may find FF has special discount on one of its resorts before that, then you can use these points plus borrow points from next use year. If no discount, you can wait till you are doing 2008 vacation plan, then do the same (get a 2007 week by using the remaining points and borrow from 2008) and cancel them later and deposit to RCI.

Of course, if you only have one free transaction, then it really upto you to determine if it worth to spend extra $25 to get 1 more week vacation (which may or may not worth it, sometimes, too much vacation is also painful)

Thanks for the reply.

If you were to deposit 15K 2007 points into credit pool, could those points be later combined with 2008 points rather than renting any points?

Maybe I'm thinking of scenarios that don't actually happen very often.

Yes, it is 3 year from the day you deposit, so you can use in 2008.
