Is the monorail running smoothly? Going for a long weekend to watch superbowl. Anything fabulous going on that we wouldn't want to miss? Just hubby and myself. We vivisted twice in 2005 and did not get downtown either time, are we missing anything?
Thanks for all your wonderful information.

You can search Vegas events by date by visiting www.vegas.com

It will give a listing of shows & events etc during your time frame.

If you have never been downtown, you may want to visit some evening to see the Fremont Street Experience, they have upgraded the lights recently.

When we use a hotel in Vegas, we are pretty much regulars at the Golden Nugget. If you do go downtown stop by the GN & try the bread pudding, and don't forget the 99cent shrimp cocktail at the Golden Gate. :)

Have fun,

Rick

As for the monorail, the last time we were there (last fall) it was indeed running ok, but we found, despite what they would have you believe, that the monorail stations are not at all convenient. In their zest to make the rail accessible to as many resorts as possible (allowing them to advertise as such) the designers placed tham in distant 'compromise' locations. They are, in fact, usually a very long walk from the strip. We did it once, just to say we did, but it was really not worth the effort most of the time.
